PS3 Dying CECH-2004B?, what do you think ?

I bought a PS3 CECH-2004B from FB marketplace for a CFW project.
Now I have installed the latest version of EVILNAT and webMAN, along with Retroarch, and I was in the process of putting my backed-up ROMs on the PS3. After a long wait for the copying to complete, I finaly started playing the PS2 games Flatout 2 and Ridge Racer V. I noticed that during the first startups, the games froze. I didn't think too much about it and restarted the game. While playing the games, I noticed what I think are certain pixilated artifacts, but I'm not entirely sure if it's normal. The game seemed to play well otherwise.

I read the Syscon with the ps3toolset and saw that error code 2022 was produced multiple times. When looking up error code 2022, I read that it could be a precursor to GLOD, but it could also be related to my monitor.

What are the temps while running the games?. You can install WebMAN MOD in order to check that.

Also, do these artifacts appear with PS3 games too?, did you try using a PS3 game disc?.

Temps are around 60 - 67 for RSX and CELL.
I Played PS3 just fine, only the PS2 games are showing artifacts.

You shouldn't worry to much about these "2022" errors. My brand new 2504A had zero error on the SYSCON log, it was completely clean. Then, I played a PS2 game, checked the SYSCON log and... two "2022" errors !
Why did I checked ? Because I've already noticed that with my 2004B. Each time you launch and exit a PS2 game, it will add 2022 errors to the SYSCON log.
Why ? I can't tell, but don't worry.
And we're not the only users reporting this.

If the artifacts appear only on PS2 games, then you should check the temps while running in PS2 mode.

You need to use the modified ps2_netemu that displays temps: https://www.psx-place.com/threads/p...ll-rsx-temperature-display-by-3141card.14040/

Thanks for the help, i can replicate this sympthom with a other PS3 Slim. My PC monitor (also connected to my PC) generates this same error when witching from monitor input. Doesn't explaine the artifacts though. PS2 temps are fine btw

There is a setting in the video setting section of the ps3 if your using SCAT might work on hdmi it'll reduce rainbow artifacts or you could have a 700 mhz gpu overclock which can cause artifacts since its not stable
