PS3 Error mounting PSX ISOs from external disk in exFAT

If you are not going to do it, don't complain then. Without the PS3's OS source code, nobody can't add native support of hardware level features.

And that's a fact.
Not your mod so if you wanna argue please don't reply to me. However thank you for clarifying of ps3 OS source code being needed. This was not know to me an I appreciate it. Now I know why it hasnt happened.

Read again. Your drive is formatted as exFAT, your WebMAN MOD temp folder contains files for NTFS. That will never work. It's either NTFS OR exFAT, not both.

Go ahead then, do that awesome feature. It's 2025, not 2006.

My drive is completely exFAT. If those files are for NTFS drives only I don't know where they are coming from.

webMAN uses the .ntfs file extension for exfat too
Thanks for confirming that. I was getting rather frustrated here.

exFAT and NTFS files use the same file extensions:
  • .ntfs[PS3ISO]
  • .ntfs[PS2ISO]
  • .ntfs[PSXISO]
  • .ntfs[PSPISO]
Now returning to the issue: There are many possible causes of the "Error" message. That's why it is not specific.
Some of the possible causes (not necessarily all) are:
1- The USB port could have been changed from the original port where the game was scanned.
2- The ISO image stored in the exFAT drive could be too fragmented. This causes that the .ntfs[PSXISO] cannot hold all the sectors and the disc image fails to mount. This is solved defragmenting the disk or copying the file again.
3- The .ntfs[PSXISO] could have been corrupted by multiMAN which uses prepNTFS. It uses the same file extension than prepISO, but a different file format. This issue is solved using multiMAN MOD instead of the original multiMAN.
4- The ISO file could be corrupted due bad sectors, overwritten or modified mistakenly.

My suggestions are:
1- Delete /dev_hdd0/tmp/wmtmp and re-scan the games again.
2- Install multiMAN MOD to avoid the conflicts that cause multiMAN with webMAN MOD.
3- If the error persists, try with a different disk or pendrive. If possible, try with NTFS too.

Unfortunately this issue seems to be specific to @cha0shacker system. I tested a couple of PSX games in my PS3 using the latest build of webMAN MOD and they were mounted fine from NTFS and exFAT.

Well with that logic, I could say not your forum, so if you want to post you might want to show a bit more respect to the community as a whole. The community is not a service but a collection of many people idea's and work that they share and they do in their spare time.

Demand something a bit rude, expect a reply you might not like. Its like putting a hand on a hot stove and not expecting to get burnt.

FMy mistake for logic. Sorry for unintentional disrepect.

I apologize for unintended disrespect. I just know that exfat has better universal support and it amazes me that ntfs is still the goto format. Sorry for ruffling feathers. Not my intention.

NTFS is preferred on PS3 mainly because it was first supported by backup managers and webMAN MOD uses an NTFS library that let access NTFS devices directly without external tools.

exFAT support was added years later and its library was ported only to PSL1GHT which cannot be used for development of VSH plugins.
Practically the unique homebrews that use the exFAT library are prepISO, ManaGunZ and Simple File Manager which has been integrated to various existing homebrews thanks to its modularity.

Thank you for info. I will say that exfat does work with webman and prepiso, but in my sinario just to be clear, I split my external hdd and and primary is exfat so I figured it would still work the same basically, but it does not as it did before I split it. This is the main reason why I figured native exfat support would help solve it. Once again, thank you for info, and Webman.

I already did 1 and to 2. i don't use MultiMan or MultiMan Mod.

A different drive is the last thing i could try, but I honestly just solved it by moving all the PS1 games to the internal drive. They aren't that big (around 67GB for my 130 games) and it circumvents the problem completely.

The only things i can think may be causing a problem are that it has to do with the amount of games on one drive (772 in my case) or something specific to PS3s with 4 USB ports.

Thanks for the help anyway. I appreciate it.

Not my mod so not my place to add.
my brother in christ do you even know what open source means?

edit: @cha0shacker are you using an external usb hub? i've had these kinds of problems in the past and wiping wmtmp, running prepiso, restarting and doing a manual scan on wmm settings usually fixes the problem. in my case it's because the usb HUB is literally 20 years old and though it is powered it sometimes fucks up the USB order and assigns USB006 and USB007 randomly and have to rescan for my games to show up
