PS3 Fault finding YLOD with the SYSCON - First steps and Error reporting

My friend made a mistake and update firmware on FSM mode.
Is their any known command for SYSCON to exit Factory Service Mode?
PS3 CECHA and he only got 239mb backup of NAND.
No. You'll have to remove the NAND and flash the backup. The 239MB nand backup works fine, you just have to paste insert the contents after the top bootloader, then everything will line up and be replaced. OFC, this required removing both NAND modules, reading the contents, combining them, then hex editing, patching if JB is desired (I recommend the 3.55 FSM patch), interleaving, writing back to the NAND, and finally soldering them back in. I wrote a detailed tutorial, but haven't thoroughly tested it out myself and am a bit fuzzy about the part after you write the NAND. Like if there's a special procedure to install FW afterwards. Or if it's as simple as updating using XMB and a USB with either a CEX or CFW. @Shawn Shakir or @vyktormvmpay25 would know better than I, since they have actually performed the procedure before. I have not had occasion to (yet).

Well yes without hw flasher won't be easy to get out of fsm
https://www.psdevwiki.com/ps3/SC_EEPROM
Think you can set it off from syscon but not sure if you get out of fsm on lv2 with that level2.diag file for out of fsm. Lv2 is software or xmb but think is already set as different core os 0 and 1 and rsod can't be fixed without patch, because update took place already.

Guys, i have hardware flasher for NANDs (Teensy++ 2.0 with clip). There's no need to desolder NANDs for me.
So i merge dumps in to one 256MB like littlebalup wrote in this post:
https://www.psx-place.com/threads/s...parts-for-top-bottom-tsops.22425/#post-157113
then use FSM patch and write rescramble dumps to NANDs.
What after that?? Do I have to install OFW 3.55? @vyktormvmpay25 @RIP-Felix
Sorry for late reply, just use 999 Rogero downgrader if you want to go on cfw route , get out of fsm, install toogle qa, enable, and from here 3.7 spoof 4.25 Rogero, 4.86 rebug lite, last cfw. All from recovery. Otherwise if you go ofw 355, get out from fsm, do some stage updates, not sure if last will work straight. Test most from recovery.

Greetings everyone! I'm a newcomer to this community and I'm eager to discover some insights. Lately, I've delved into the world of acquiring broken PS3 consoles for the sheer enjoyment of fixing them up. I've successfully managed to restore functionality to most of them. However, there's this one particular console that's proving to be quite the puzzle.

I've extracted the syscon log twice, partly because I wanted to ensure accuracy after my initial attempt. Despite reaching out for help on Reddit, I unfortunately didn't receive the level of assistance I was hoping for. On the platform, I was advised that my Cell might have met its demise, and the only logical step would be to discard the entire board. Of course, I'm not entirely convinced yet, I'm seeking further opinions and expertise. Your insights would be immensely appreciated!

Hi! This is is my first time here. I have a CECHK01 with the errors A06114FF and A0611701 and all timestamps are FFFFFFFF. Before doing the syscon, the only other time I've opened the console was to replace the Blu-Ray drive (I also transferred the board from the old drive into the new drive).
My PS3 got YLOD in the middle of the night sometime in May 2022 when turning on automatically to upload to online storage.
I know that 14FF is Check stop and 1701 is CELL BE ATTENTION.
The PS3 was manufactured July 2008 if that's important.

I was able to get my PS3 to power on a couple times, each time it the light would stay green with the fan speed at max. I got another error code this time along with the previous two that I've mentioned: 00000000 A0902120 FFFFFFFF

This is the error log:

1701 followed by 1001 is unusual as the 1701 is normally followed by checkstop error, 14FF, lovelock detection, 1601 or a PLL unlock, 1301.

However, in your case, you get a 1001. This normally indicates an issue with the NEC tokins.

Does the console boot at all, or does it simply switch off immediately? Does it try to boot? Do you see an attempt on the screen before it turns off?

I o ly seem to have two error codes. I bought this off eBay and I always check the Syscon log to make sure I have no serious errors.

But in this case I only have 1001 twice followed by 0X FFFFFFFF codes. What does this mean?

I encountered a YLOD issue within approximately 4 seconds of turning on the console, prompting my suspicion that the RSX could be the culprit. Upon further investigation, I observed that the silicone appeared notably reddened and exhibited signs of potential heat damage, which was particularly evident after the delidding process. Additionally, the console's interior was quite dirty when I initially opened it. Taking these factors into account, I decided to proceed with a reflow of the RSX. As a result of this action, the console has been restored to normal functioning. While I am aware that a reflow is not a permanent solution, I chose to derive some enjoyment from the console during this period.

OK so I got another console which stopped working after a very clean delid. I was extremely careful as always. So I soldered my TTL and read the syscon log:

Hi everyone!

Every time I do a command I get this code: "F0000003". If turn on my Ps3 it automatically turns off (red light). What I need to do so I can get the codes when PS3 had YLOD?

The command "EEP GET 3961 01" returns "00000000 FF"

Thanks!

I was able to get the internal mode on. When I do "bringup" I get the following message:

What this means? Is it a problem with the connection?

Error code 3004 typically is the result of a failure in which the RSX cannot get enough power. this is because the RSX filter capacitors are not working correctly

From what i can see you seem to have done the NEC/Tokin replacement incorrectly, You must scratch the thermal VIAs in order to expose the copper substrate underneath. Otherwise the capacitors are not having a connection at all

@miguelfcp I reckon your connection is fine. The error code 3001 typically indicates a failure with the 12v line or the power supply. If you are not powering it on with the PSU plugged into those two prongs on the top then try that. Else try a different power supply

thanks friend.
but friends, the picture that I gave is not quite right but the right one is like the one below.

OK, I'm trying simple debug, where I have to know how much supply is given before entering nec/tokin, if I can make sure this works then I will try cleaning the substrate.

If I'm not mistaken the error 1200 stands for BE Thermal Error and 2203 for SB error (IC3001).
What this means and how to fix this?

EDIT: I decided to put the metallic shield and turn on the fan to see if it fixed the thermal error. What happens now is the PS3 turns on, the fan goes full speed and then the console turns off. If I do "errlog" I get the same output as before (what's above).

Thanks!

Thanks!
A0003001 is probably because you attempted a bringup with out the 12v from the PSU not connected.

PWR ON State CPU Overheat (A0801200) and Shutdown State SB Error (A0902203). CPU overheated and SYSCON couldn't complete shutdown sequence gracefully, forced PWR off to protect the console, and the SB complained about it. Solution = Repaste. If that doesn't work, then delid IHS. The TIM there is done. And before you ask incredulously. Yes, the CPU can overheat within a few seconds even if the IHS is attached and the paste is gone. I've seen in many times..

Hi all;
