( WIP Tutorial Begins HERE ) :
( Do NOT use PS3Xploit on CFW = OR IT WILL BRICK YOUR PS3 ! )
Update to OFFICIAL FIRMWARE 4.82 ( TWICE ! = To avoid Corruption ).
PS3Xploit = Coded to work on 4.82 OFW ONLY !
BEST-console to-have, which-CAN actually-be-exploited ?
CECH-25xx = Until/Before March-2011 or 1A Datecode (OR OLDER !) per expert-opinion.
Check "MD5"-Hashes !
( ALWAYS! )
USB-Drives = Formatted "fat32" ONLY ! ( NOT "NTFS" ! NOT "exFAT" ! ).
USB-Drives = Connect in closest port to BD-Drive for PS3Xploit (any other-port for GAMING = to preserve the other one).
USB-Drives = Normal UPDATES go in the following PATH.
( ROOT / PS3 / UPDATE / UPDAT.PUP )
"PS3Xploit-v1.0" = Copy the FOLDER to your DESKTOP.
Create "htdocs" FOLDER ( within the PS3Xploit-v1.0 FOLDER ), and ADD the following to it:
"nand-482" & "nor-482" & "xp_rel_writer10"
"flsh.hex" = Copy to ROOT of USB-Drive.
Set up a LAN connection between your PS3 and PC (or router).
PS3-Browser = Set Homepage to "MiniWeb" Server-Address:
Server Address (IP EXAMPLE) = http://192.168.0.2:8000/nor-482.html (on NOR-Consoles).
( Address will differ, depending on NOR/NAND, & your PC-IP-Address, EG "192.169.0.2" )
PS3-Browser = Clean/Delete Browser-Cache.
TURN OFF PS3, TURN ON PS3.
Start aldostools-modified-"MiniWeb" ( which is included with PS3Xploit-v1.0 ).
GOTO BROWSER.
PS3-Browser = Run the correct-file for your model-PS3.
( NOR.html, or NAND.html )
Update to CFW ( Rebug 4.82.1 LITE )
( CFW for Noobs to start with. )
Package Manager > Install Package Files > PS3 System Storage.
( You will see PKG files you have to install. )
Install Rebug Toolbox.
Start Rebug Toolbox.
Utilities > Toggle QA Flag > Enabled = Allows XMB > UPDATE to whatever Firmware-PUP you like after this.
Utilities > Create "Packages" Folder.
Selector > Toggle COBRA Mode > Enabled.
HOLD Circle-Button = Quit to XMB.
Package Manager > Install Package Files > Standard.
Install PSP Launcher (Cobra) v2.0.
Install webMAN MOD 1.47.08.
Install multiMAN 4.82.00.
Install IRISMAN 4.82.
Launch MultiMAN = It will auto-create ISO-folders for all compatible consoles, DVD, and BD.
Game > Refresh (Scan Connected Devices).
Retro > Refresh (Scan Connected Devices).
Settings > Date Format > MM/DD/YYYY.
Settings > Time Format > 12-Hour Clock.
Settings > Default Display Mode > TMB (Top media bar)
Settings > Font Preference > Matisse
Settings > Theme Audio > Disable.
Settings > Inactivity Timeout > Disable.
Settings > Screensaver > Disable.
Settings > System Auto-Off > Disable.
Settings > Show Temperature Data > Auto (Fahrenheit).
HOLD Circle-Button = Quit to XMB.
Launch IRISMAN.
Set Window Position.
Save Settings.
START-Button.
Change Current GUI > Grid 8x6 + Cover.
Initialize FTP server > YES ( to Auto-Enable )
HOLD Circle-Button = Quit to XMB.
Launch webMAN updater = "WHILE-HOLDING the L1-Button" ( "TAP the X-Button" ).
( You should now have "FULL webMAN MOD" installed after your system reboots. )
webMAN Games > webMAN Setup > PS3 webMAN [Setup]
UN-Check - Enable dynamic Fan Control.
Check - Autoplay.
Save & "Click Here" to Restart.
XMB > Memory Card Utility > Create New Internal Memory Card
Create Virtual-Memory-Cards for PS2 (slot 1) and PS1 (slot 2) games.
Triangle-Button = Assign each memory card to the noted-corresponding-SLOT.

Stay on the same firmware for some time, as at this point you have ALOT of things to try.
( See how it all works, before proceeding, I DID  . )
No PSN !
( Unless you want to risk getting your console banned ? )
PSN Icons = ARE NOT Interchangeable ( Firmware Dependent ).
Gameboots = ARE NOT Interchangeable ( Firmware Dependent ).
Coldboots = ARE Interchangeable ( so they'll work with any 4.xx CFW ).
4.xx CFW = ARE ALL Compatible with one another ( Themes should be okay too ).
PKG Naming = They always seem weird to me, but CAN be renamed at will without issue.
Coldboot.raf = Limitation from available space in flash.
( Max animation length = 4 seconds, as this limitation was never bypassed )
Game Formats:
PS1 = ISO or BIN/CUE ( NOT VCD ! )
PS2 = ISO
PSP = ISO ( NOT CSO ! )
PS3 = ISO
( If anyone knows any other working formats please let me know )
ManaGunZ = Can convert PSP-CSOs to ISO format.
ManaGunZ = v1.31+ are Compatible with 4.82-Firmware.
PS2-on-PS3 Emulation:
(1.02+) ps2_emu.self
(1.50+) ps2_gxemu.self
(1.90+) ps2_softemu.self
(3.70+) ps2_netemu.self
Emulators are not "PS3 Game OS" Elf-Executables, but a "Guest OS" running on LV1.
LV2 "Game OS" is unloaded before emulator is loaded.
You cannot call any LV2 function while emulators are running. |

Here is my PS3 backstory (shortest version):
I once had a brand new PS3, which a house-guest stole and pawned.
Made me all EMO about ever getting another PS3.
The End.
Basically, @bguerville (& Team PS3Xploit)s new developments recently have inspired me to finally dive into the PS3 world.
I know the rest of staff right now are thinking, " ABOUT FREAKING TIME".
I plan on starting out from scratch by the end of this month, and filling up our PS3-Resource-Section with tons of personally-tested-by-me new-goodies, and then, of course, writing a few tutorials noting my trials and errors as well Im sure, you know, for the Noob in all of us. LOL
So, since Im a PS3 infant, Ill ask some noobish questions before finally making a PS3 console purchase.
