Hi, my ps3 has a 1.5tb internal HDD so it mean 1396 gb real and usuable free space but, the ps3 said 1270/1396 after a full format and upgrade custom firmware 4.80 rebug cobra
Where is the other 126 gb? i have read about the space that the ps3 system took for his correct operation, but its a lot of space
How to avoid wasting space on the hdd for the PS3 operating system?
there some app or some scene in this way?
126 gb waste space means= a lot of ps3, ps2 and psx backups.
thank you very much

There is difference between "b" and "B", and counting by 1000 and 1024.

Anyway, most of the "missing space" took file system table (imagine this as pages index of any book You have). Size of those tables depend on file system format type.

CellOS stored on NAND, and on consoles with NOR partially on HDD. I'm sure It has less than 200MB total (+ 500MB tmp, + for cache partition (1GB?)).

Maybe it is just a static formula the ps3 uses, just a guess but if that were the case it would be a percentage so the bigger the drive the more that space is based on whatever calculation is used. I don't know just a guess, I'm not pretending to know diddly squat about this. Besides how can 1.5 tb not be large enough for your needs? That's ton's of space there dude
