PS3 insanely hard rsx glue on vram module

so, i have a ps3 cech-2504a with a overheating rsx 45nm, the model i think is not the glued one ( serial no: 03-27456822-5906307) and i wanted to delid it, but the glue on the vram modules is insanely hard, so hard that not even heating it and cutting with a modified painter scalpel (paper thin) i can get in the glue, the point will stuck in after less than a millimiter.... i don't know what to do....

I used a combination of heat and a razor blade that I hit ever so slightly with a small hammer(think the size of a pen).

is like 20 minutes that i'm using your tecnique but i did at least a millimiter, is so goddamn hard that mf glue, i've never seen something like that

it's my 4th ps3 that i've delidded, the other 3 come off pretty easily, this one is like cement, and is not one that has the plastic ridge in the outside so is a thermal paste one....

take your time man, you don't want to hit it too hard and be careful not to hit the board with the hammer. keep applying heat...it will come off.

i tried and tried, spending hours on it, i even broke my spatula, heating to 130 celsius, trying to cut it off, repeating and so on... but nothing works...GODDAMIT

so, i have this ps3 slim model 2504 that has a overheating rsx, in the last week i tried in every way to delid the rsx, tried the wire method, heating to 130 celsius and cutting with a super thin spatula, even using razor blades to cut while it was hot, but nothing works, is so damn hard, never seen a rsx epoxy that hard to cut, is like glue but white and slightly flexible, nothing works and i don't know what to do anymore....

i spent at least 4 or 5 hours working on that rsx, but nothing works.... can somewone has some tips or tricks? like a solvent that consumes the rsx epoxy?

You could try dampening the blade with some Acetone, Methylene Chloride or Vinegar an keep feeding it in slowly to burn through it, do it outside with a mask though you don't want it getting on your lungs, espicially Chlorine it'll starve you of oxygen fast.

I used Gillette razor blades to finish the 40nm RSX Delided. In my opinion, you need a lot of patience for this process. It even took me 30 minutes to complete the process. What I do is break the blade in half and then use a plastic stick to hold the blade against the corner. I will spray a little WD40 on the blade. This will prevent the blade from getting stuck when you dig it in.

You definitely need a lot of patience. For me it was a lot easier. I just tapped on the blade with a small tiny hammer in one corner of the rsx and after about 2mins that corner was free and the whole cover popped off. The cpu delid was a different story as it took me a couple of weeks. Good job man.

I used this method before, using a hammer or lever to hold the blade to pop open the four corners of the IHS, but these two methods have the same disadvantage, when you apply force, the BGA ball will be affected by your force, and I am worried that it will be damaged. Now I not use these two methods.
