Hello everyone!

I recently acquired a PS3 cecha01 (the one with 4 USB ports that can play PS2 games). It is currently on system software Version 4.89.

I'm trying to install HFW. I formatted a 4GB USB flash drive as FAT32 and made the following structure:
PS3 -> UPDATE -> PS3UPDAT.PUP

My system detects my USB drive, but when I try to update I get the message "No applicable update data was found."

Can anyone help me? Thank you!

Verify that the USB flash drive is FAT32 MBR (GPT layout is not supported). Or try a different flash drive or a different USB port.

Also verify that the path is all in uppercase: PS3 > UPDATE > PS3UPDAT.PUP

It is MBR FAT32, and the path is correct. It's still not working. I have tried multiple USB drives from 4 GB to 32.

unplug the controller right after starting the search for update. leave it unplugged until it works or fails. if that doesn't work, there is a guide i wrote HERE with more info.

I'm using a wireless controller, I followed your guide and it's still is not working.

this model is NAND. you must use recovery (safe) mode if reinstalling the same version number firmware.

you need a wired controller to use recovery mode. try to borrow one if you do not have a wired one.
Thank you, I managed to get it installed. But now I can't install software from USB. I go to the place to install software but nothing pops up, my USB is detected though.

.pkg files need to be in the root folder of the USB drive, it will not look in any other dirs.
