just wondering this would save me a lot of hassle with my old HDD if I could just copy the games I had on it to a USB, that I could then connect to pc a lot easier, thanks

You can copy everything but Ps2 games, and even if you could, since Ps2 has 1.1 USBs it'd take an entire day just to copy one game.

With a 3.0 adaptor you can transfer games from HDD to PC and viceversa up to 90MBps (more or less, it also depends on the HDD specifics).

Indeed, only Ps2 apposite programs can recognize it (also you must open them as admin). You have to use them for exctracting games back to PC, then re-install on the other HDD.
