Hey family, long time reader even back to console exploits days. Psx scene days. (I have a backup of psx scene website I took before it was shut down if it's of any use. Same with original sksapps site. Anyway my question is regarding mx4iso memory card I am wondering what is the best app to run it on. I have 3 slims I want to setup with it and ha ent found much solid Info. I have 9 ps2 fat systems all with 1tb hdd. And even have all versions of gran turismo online public beta. Alsogt4 spec 2 plus original game (really love that game and happy it is supported o line now)
Thank you for any information about the mx4iso I want to master my slim setup. My fats are all ethernet adapted converted to sata. No clones!!! I have about 300 games plus some emulated stuff snes nes ect. I love this site and all the moderation you guys are doing to keep out the bots. I don't post usually cause everything is there.

Yeah, opl can run an mx4sio, but you may need a specific version. I think if you connect the PS2 to the Internet, you can download switch configurations for your games instead of having to look them up iirc.

@Berion :

In English via G-Trad :

Why do you say the MX4SIO is obsolete ???
What is the MMCE ???
I've been using the MX4SIO since its inception, and it works perfectly for me. I've been heavily involved in testing it since the beginning.
What is the compatibility of the MMCE, and how much does it cost ???

Thanks in advance for your answers, @Berion.

MX4SIO is obsolete and it is not memory card. ;) Buy MMCE.

MX4SIO has been added in OPL v1.1.0, AFAIR. MMCE hasn't, you need fork of one of 1.2.0 betas.

Not "switches" but "modes".
Compatibility mode configurations then? Alright. That's a nice feature.

How stable is MMCE (with compatible OPL forks)? MX4SIO is turning out to still be a headache..

@Berion :
Je ne sais toujours pas comment utiliser le MMCE, ni si c'est du matériel. Peux-tu m'en dire un peu plus s'il te plait ?
Existe-t-il une liste de compatibilité pour ce produit ?

I still don't know how to use the MMCE, or if it's hardware. Can you tell me a little more, please ?
Is there a compatibility list for this product ?

It is device. Commercial solutions are two:
On microSDXC card, user placing memory card images with specific names inside specific folders. On screen display, user choosing which VMC is exposed to PS2, which thinking it is real memory card. This means that user can boot eg. FMCB or PS2BBL from vmc.

In parallel, user can store games on that SD card, like on Pendrive or MX4SIO. Both works in the same time, dedicated driver on OPL or Neutrino side communicating with MMCE to know what to do (i.e OPL MMCE when loading game, automatically switching from boot card to vmc for that game). But do not mislead that functionality with VMC build-in OPL/NTR, here it is solved on hardware level and none hooks are needed (and less are, better compatibility is because less memory needed). MMCEs are computers, MX4SIO only simple storage.

Compatibility is much higher than on MX4SIO, according to users feedback (no compatibility list). But there are two important things user must keep in mind:
  1. SD card must have lowest possible latency, or else game will stutter. It is common mistake of reviewers eg. on YT.
  2. Read speed is lower on Slims (because SIO2 interface is slower on them? I dunno).

Okay, thank you for this information, but I won't be purchasing it because there's no official compatibility list, which leaves me uncertain. Also, this interface is expensive unless I go through "Ali...". It's also a bit complicated to use, even though I downloaded the user manual.
Thanks again, @Berion.

I preparing detailed guide about SD2PSX/PSXMCG2, so you would be able to judge if that's something hard and/or fit to your needs.

You're welcome.
