PS2 [MX4SIO/SIO2SD] SD Card Adapter and SD-driver for the PS2 SIO2 interface

Actually I wanted to try latest BDM 4.7.1... just one thing, in older build this issue was the other way around right? MX4SIO + USB resulting in MX4SIO being read but not the USB... I'm going crazy trying to remember that, before trying BDM 4.7.1 I would have swear that I had my USB drive always plugged in while using MX4SIO.

Can anyone confirm this?

Finally got it working, but, I had to disable my AV firewall, and for some reason on Linux (with sudo) I can see this:

Code:
Opened '/dev/sda1' as Block Device
 - read/write
 - size = 512709MB / 488958MiB
Block size changed to 128
Server running on port 48573 (0xbdbd)
UDPBD_CMD_INFO from 192.168.1.10
UDPBD_CMD_READ(cmdId=1, startSector=0, sectorCount=8)
UDPBD_CMD_READ(cmdId=3, startSector=122272, sectorCount=8)
UDPBD_CMD_READ(cmdId=4, startSector=1312928, sectorCount=8)

But OPL keeps loading forever... I've attached the binary I used, under Kubuntu 18.04, in case anyone wants to try it. Maybe it's my system...

In any case, my main problem was that a USB stick was inserted, and OPL was always reading it first. The same thing happens with MX4SIO. @El_isra, could you build this special OPL in a way that tries to load UDPBD device before the USB one in case both are plugged in? Or maybe disable USB reading/mounting... Don't know if that's possible, but I think it may be easier or faster than creating another category on OPL main menu. Thanks!

I tried this BMD 4.5 version with a couple games and I did not experience the stuttering I saw with BDM 4 on Samsung Evo 64gb.

Thank you!

Same here with a Samsung Evo 256Gb; most of the stuttering has now gone with BDM 4.6. Great work!
Compatibility issues still persist; I'll have to try these over USB to see if they work.

hello. so i tested a few games with MX4SIO dbzbt3, silent hill 2, and origins, capcom vs snk 2, and marvel vs capcom 2 they all seem to work just fine.

however star ocean 3 does not work at all. all i got was a black screen.

i use a walmart brand sd card a 32gb onn formatted to exfat with 16k cluster.
and i used ccv2 version of opl

Hi guys,

I have a problem, and was wondering if there is a fix?

Tried both OPNPS2LD-v1.1.0-Beta-1629-e20f2ee-bdm3.ELF and OPL_BDM_4.7.1.ELF, both times the programs refuse to run after running GSM, all I get is a glitched-out screen (runs fine without GSM, but need it for a 240p native game).

Is this a known issue, and is there a workaround?

Thanks.

PS: I'm using a Bitfunx MX4SIO with a Kingston Canvas Select Plus 128GB SD, and FMCB is on an original Sony 8mb Magic Gate memory card.

Star Ocean 3 doesn't work for me either; I get a black screen too!

I used a MX4SIO (+Kingston 32GB MicroSD) with a PS2 Slim (SCPH-77004) for a while to play SingStar and it works fine.

However, I decided to try this on a PS2 "phat" (SCPH-50004) as well and it's not playable on this one. The game works, but the sound from the USB wireless microphone cracks every time the MX4SIO is accessed (LED flash)... that's non-stop cracking during a song because the music video is streamed from the MX4SIO. Only the microphone input cracks, the music audio en video is smooth.

I can reduce the number of MX4SIO access during a song by turning on the EyeToy camera. Then the camera video is showed so the music video is not played/loaded. This reduces the cracks (and camera stutter) to one crack each second, still not enjoyable.

In short: each time when the MX4SIO LED flashes (access) the microphone cracks and the camera video stutter for a moment.

The problem exist with both SingStar Pop 2009 & SingStar Anthems. OPL-1.2.0-ifcaro-1917 is used.

It feels like somehow MX4SIO access conflicts with (real-time) input from USB peripherals? But how is this only happening on the SCPH-50004 and not the SCPH-77004?

This seem to be not a SingStar-only problem. I tried EyeToy Play running from MX4SIO on the SCPH-50004 and the camera image flickers/distorts each time the MX4SIO is read. This distorting doesn't happen on the SCPH-77004.

Edit: The problem on the SCPH-50004 with the USB peripherals seem to be not limited to MX4SIO but also happens with SMB, with the difference that it's less frequent (SingStar mic only cracks once each 5 seconds using SMB). Only internal HDD plays fine (crack-/distortion-free) on my SCPH-50004 using OPL.

Is there somebody with a SCPH-50004 and EyeToy camera or SingStar mics to test this to see if it's my specific unit?

Thank you, I tried the BDM 4.7.1 build and SingStar works fine from MX4SIO with it, no single cracking sound, not even with the music video on. Impressive improvement :flustered: The only drawback I notice is it cannot load MX4SIO if a USB drive is plugged in, something which do work with the ifcaro builds.

With SMB the cracking is the same as the ifcaro ones, the improvement is only on the MX4SIO part.

You mean CPU hungry the IOP? So maybe the problem doesn't occur on the SCPH-77004 because of the different (faster) IOP in it?

Oh, I thought the CCV2 build was for testing SD cards which previously not work.

I've tested that build now with SingStar. Running from MX4SIO is as good as BDM 4.7.1. And running from SMB is still as bad as with BDM 4.7.1.

But I notice one big improvement with the CCV2+GRIM build: it can use MX4SIO with my USB-drive still attached :smug: It defaults to (empty) USB, but with the right-arrow I can go to the MX4SIO page and start games.

The USB page is empty because I have no PS2 games on it. I only have it plugged in because this SCPH-50004 is modchipped and the boot-menu is on USB. And it has POPstarter games for use with the OPL "daily builds" PS1-menu.

Glad that helped.

Wait for the various commits to be part of the official OPL Beta-builds.

As to be expected. The improvements are related to MX4SIO only.

Yes and yes.
Oh, I thought the CCV2 build was for testing SD cards which previously not work.
It contains more fixes and those might have the same effect like for your Singstar.

Alright. SMB Was expected though.

Yes. Multi-page support, although the theme doesn't fully represent it (yet).

You could play them via the APPS-page...

Hey there! I have noticed a "regression" of sorts in using mx4sio with OPL BDM and/or daily github builds. I have a couple of russian double-language pirate PS2 discs that I have made iso dumps of and copied said dumps to a microsd that I use in mx4sio, they use game loaders that are essentially modified official PAL PS2 demo-disc menus to load two copies of the game, one translated and one original. Recently, I decided that it'd be a good idea to upgrade my OPL install to the latest version (spoiler alert: it was not a good idea), so I tried three different OPL versions: the official one from github (v1.2.0-Beta-1979-d26da79), BDM 4.7.1 version posted not too long ago in this same thread and another one of the BDM test builds, BDM_CC_TEST_V2. All of them didn't work, instead of launching into the demo menu, they just load to white screen, although, with one of the older builds, can't say which one specifically (because I overwrote that one "good" version that was on my memcard with the newer one), but I have some older OPL builds left on my PC for me to test. Once I test them, I'll come back with results.

Also, my ps2 model is 75k slim and I'm using a custom-ordered self-assembled mx4sio PCBs

Same issue here. Fan translations got broken after I decided to update to BDM4, since it supports exFat, and before big games used to often get corrupted.
It wouldn't be an issue to me since I know English well enough, but I'm making this collection for my brother. I'll probably leave this place in a couple of months, so translation is pretty crucial now.
What is strange to me is that there are some translated games that do work, and some that boot English version without choice.

PS2 is SCPH-77008 CB
Can send a couple of those translation patch programs if needed (without original ROM).
