Basically, a few weeks ago I got a CECH-2004A Slim from my cousin, I recently took it to a tech store, where they cleaned it out and repasted it for me. Prior to repasting, I used it only for YouTube, no games. After repasting I got HEN, and just now CFW, I thought I just needed to jailbreak and.. that's that! So, I booted up MW2, not even 5 minutes of playing, my cell was 60⁰C and my RSX was 74⁰C (I was on syscon). So, to keep my temps down; I set the fan on webMAN mod to minimum at 28⁰C and auto at 68⁰C. On lighter games, like South Park: The Stick of Truth, both my CELL and RSX sat at 60⁰C. However, today I booted up GTA4. It was great, I played for 30 minutes (fan still on min at 28% and auto at 68.) and my CELL was at 60⁰C and RSX was at 65⁰C. After that I let my PS3 idle on XMB for 20 minutes, the fan was jumping from 28 and 29 to maintain 68⁰C on RSX, but that was expected. Then back to GTA4, I turned on webMAN FPS to monitor my temps, and WOW. My temps were fine for a good 2 minutes and then the fan had to go to 50% to keep the RSX cool. I exited out of GTA and the fan went back to 28-30% within a minute and just sat there, without problems.

Long story short: My CELL is fine, my RSX is getting hot. What's wrong with my PS3? I can't find a straightforward answer anywhere. I posted on reddit, some people say I'm fine, some say I need a delid ASAP, and some say to set it to auto at whatever temp and let it rock. Please give me all your thoughts!!! Every and every reply is appreciated!!!
Edit: Forgot to say, it has a runtime of 64 days.

Hello,

Slim Cech-2000 Models with 65nm Rsx are always running a bit hotter then Cech-2100 or Cech-2500 Models. The Heatsink is a bit to small to cool down the 65nm Rsx. Also to mention every Heatsink and Chip is different and some run hotter some run colder. Some Games push the Rsx more then Cell and sometimes it can happen that the Console needs more then 40% Fan to keep it at 68C.

I would set min Fan at 25% - 95% and mex Temp at 70C. If this keeps then Fan at 40% + - 1-2% all is good. If not i would set the Fanspeed at min 30%.

These Consoles are designed to run at 70C+ so dont freak out if it goes to 72C for example they are build to run at this temp.

It also makes sense to delid the Rsx at some point. And i would check if the Shop really changed the Thermal Paste. U can change the Thermal Paste on the IHS many times but at some point the Thermal Paste between IHS and Chip is so old and dry it is not working how it should be and a delid is the only option.

I hope i can help with this Infos

Hey man! It's me again! Just felt like you deserved an update, you'll never believe what happened. All my PS3 needed was to be moved!! I moved it to a lower cabinet where there's close to no dust, I cant believe it either!! After 3 hours of intense gaming, not once did my fan go above 28% (the minimum I set it to)
