Hello,
I am trying to resurrect an old PS2 I used to play as a kid. Looking around, I thought it was simply a laser issue, so I bought a new laser on Amazon and installed it. (Yes, I removed the solder blob). After doing so, it seems the issue has not changed. I am very close to giving up and emulating.
When I turn it on, the laser moves under the disk, clicks twice (I can see the laser through the disk), and stays there. On the screen, it just goes to the "Browse/System Config." screen with no error or indication that it even tried to read the disk.
I have checked:
Lid switches
Laser (Replaced)
Laser Pots (Between 700 and 1k ohms for CD)
Motor Ribbon Cable (I don't know how to test the motor itself)
To see the result, please refer to this video: https://drive.google.com/file/d/11G6_yckTV_hNDSOZcRaXSC-lDlcGbGcx/view?usp=sharing
Model: 75001
Thank you,
Jacob
