PS3 NoPSN Apps

I am currently at a standstill on Hulu and Amazon apps until I can get a re-signed EBOOT and SELF working. I cannot get the original ELF files to re-sign without kicking back to the XMB when launched. If I can't get an original ELF to load, then I cannot get a modified one to load after it is re-signed back to EBOOT.BIN or ignition.sprx (in case of Amazon).

I have tried all the tools I use for all the rest. I have tried TrueAncestor 1.98, ESSSE Resigner 3.85, CFW Eboot PKG Resigner 1.20, and AldoTools 4.81. I have tried with and without compression as well.

If anyone can get the original EBOOT.BIN and an SPRX from Hulu plus the ignition.SELF file to re-sign and load properly, let me know the version and configuration that works, or post a zip file of the tool.

I have patches already that should work for both Hulu and Amazon 4.01 if I can get the re-signed files to work.

Oh, I thought it would require PSN access. I'll give it a try later.
BBC player has always been limited to the UK. It's basically region locked.
There was a time when using any UK based proxy or VPN was enough to fool the app on PC/Android/PS3 but not anymore...
Nowadays a handful of VPN services offer special accounts that supposedly allow you to access the BBC services from abroad but I am not about to pay extra for that kind of thing so I never tested it myself....
Anyway without using those VPN paid services, I doubt that you will ever be able to use the BBC player unless you are physically in the UK.

Yes, I knew BBC iPlayer was region locked to the UK. Luckily I don't need a VPN as I reside here.

Was always curious about that app and always faced the region lock out being in the states. Is it a paid service? We get BBC US on Vue, one I would love to see not tied to PS but alas with it being a Sony based service and PS exclusive features I doubt this will ever happen as I have Vue on my Roku but it is severely hindered compared to the PS3/4 counterparts. I won't even try to speak on the horrid Android based app. Sony won't let two PS3's use the service at once but luckily they do allow a PS3 and PS4 to use the same account at once.

No the BBC service is free but only available in the UK, I could be wrong but I assume the idea behind this is that the BBC is paid for by UK tax paying residents so they should have the exclusivity.
The BBC iPlayer is available on PC/PS3/Android & it is region locked on all platforms. The development teams have implemented a system which detects proxy servers or standard VPN services. That's why a number of VPN companies are offering specific services for a fee that include full access to BBC iPlayer from outside the UK. Without such a service you are unlikely to be able to use the app.

Thanks was mere curiosity I already pay for Hulu, Vue, Amazon Prime and Netflix. I ensure my 100mbps fiber is pushed every month LOL

BBC iPlayer is a FREE service here (only if you don't count the fact you have to pay for a damn license that helps fund them...).

In the United Kingdom, by law, we have to have a TV license if we want to watch or use a TV (biggest load of BS imo). A margin of the profit the TV Licensing Agency makes goes towards the likes of the BBC and such (IIRC). It isn't TAX, more like a scam. If caught watching or using a TV without a valid license (also counts for tablets, screened devices such as smart phones, handheld game consoles and so on) you can face prosecution (a fine of up to £2000). It costs around £150 a year for a TV license.

Millions of people in the UK watch or use TV "illegally" here but recently the TV licensing authorities have been getting serious about the use of watching or using TV here illegally...

Wow that is a load of BS. Never heard of this till now. Kinda crazy if you ask me but what do I know I'm not from there so no idea how it all works.

It is a load of BS tbh. I've heard some insane stories of the TV Licensing Agency driving around neighbourhoods with some sort of device, scanning houses that somehow identify if they have a TV... LOL!

Edit: If you want to know more.

Kinda good news so far. I have gotten the Hulu SPRX to resign and load with some trickery (more details on that later)!

I have it currently where the PSN login is bypassed but I get an infinite spinner icon and the UI never loads fully.

I should, hopefully have a NoPSN bypass for Hulu today! The Amazon app is still giving me re-signing problems!!

This is great been waiting for hulu NoPSN bypass I use hulu all the time.

man, i feel like i'm all up in Hulu, but i can't find the g-spot

i have the weekend off, so hopefully i'll have something soon. I have made over 100 patched areas over several hours, but run into 1 of 9 issues every time so far

1) The Patch Has No Effect On PSN Signin XMB Splash <-- this one sucks!!
2) The PSN Signin is bypassed, but the "Loading" swirly icon never goes away

3) The PSN Signin is bypassed, but it is stuck with a Hulu background and nothing else
4) The PSN Signin is bypassed, but the entire UI is missing or not loading
5) The PSN Signin is not bypassed, but pressing circle will cause a blank infinite loop loading page
6) The PSN Signin is not bypassed, but pressing circle will cause a "normal looking" Loading swirly that is infinite
7) The screen goes black and the console freezes <-- Lots of these along the way!!
8) The screen goes black, but the console and controller respond normally

9) The screen goes black, console and controller normal, but when exiting, the console force resets

if I don't have any luck by the end of the weekend, I will post my current IDA file with all the tried areas and comments for others to mess with, as my time is more limited throughout the week (still have a few hours a day to tinker though)

I may try setting up a live debug environment again this weekend. I had it set up on my last PS3, but have not set up the environment again with this one and different Windows installation.

I remember on older versions of Hulu, the app decompressed files into the "/dev_hdd0/game/NPUP00046/ directory for US version. I do not have a Hulu account. Could someone verify if there are more than 3 files in /USRDIR/?

US Version should have EBOOT.BIN, WebkitPRX_mf.sprx, and wkf_fs_prx_mf.sprx only in a default install.

If you find additional files, please make a zip of the entire folder and post. If this does not happen on the newer versions, then this will not work for getting a decompressed version.

Thanks :)

UPDATE #1: I tested with signing in and then signed out while active, this presented a new Warning screen which can be bypassed with CIRCLE and does not re-trigger PSN splash. I should be able to use this area as an attack surface.....hopefully sooon!!

UPDATE #2: Something is actively monitoring for a PSN connection. As soon as it connects or disconnects from PSN, Hulu instantly responds with a message or UI.

UPDATE #3: Unplugging LAN while connected to PSN causes Hulu to throw up a "Sorry a network issue has been detected....." message. You cannot use CIRCLE to bypass this.

UPDATE #4: This logic loop inside of this GET_LOGIN_STATE function I believe is actively monitoring the PSN connection. My PowerPC skills are mediocre, at best. If anyone can tell me what this is doing exactly, that would be awesome. I am thinking if I can just store a value of "1" here for the login state, then this would solve the PSN disconnected issue. I have added comments in the screenshot, some are from an IBM site I was reading to figure out what the loop was doing.

This could also be for the Hulu login status, I am not sure. Either way, the logic is the same for both, I would imagine.

UPDATE #5: Since the code also has references to the NDS, Wii-U, PSVita, and XBOX360 for Device Checking, another crazy idea may be to just make it think it's an XBOX360 and patch XBL signin, or just make it think it's a Wii-U and skip PSN signin :biggrin2:

UPDATE #6: Very interesting....I NOP'd the "add r0, r21, r4" instruction and received a very pleasant "ERROR Sorry, Hulu encountered a network error. Please try again later." message!!!

I am familiar with the UK TV licensing BS. When I lived there, my house was visited twice because of it, in 1994 & in 2010! Never got fined but it was a very close call, both times... Lol

But the UK is not the only EU country using such a system to finance its 'national TV company', there are many others.
UK TV licensing was created decades ago, just after WW2, obviously well before the digital era began... Back in those days, it may have made good sense as there was only the one state channel available, TV was not the money making machine that we see today...

YouTube v3.xx NoPSN Patching has been successful :)

I have been testing without errors. Please report any issues. Thanks!

EU:
Youtube-v3.00-[NPEB01229]-NoPSN.pkg

JP:
Working on finding offset currently!

if bitsbubba's suggestion does not work, try removing "/dev_hdd0/game/NPUP00030CACHE" or
"/dev_hdd0/game/NPEB00874CACHE" if they still exist

Hello. Still getting the same error. Any ideas ? Thanks

Same error with what exactly? You are quoting both YT & Netflix related stuff...

If you are talking about Netflix, have you tried the steps?
1. delete any installed Netflix apps using the XMB remove option.
2. manually delete the Netflix EU & US cache folders in /dev_hdd0/game.
3. reboot
4. install directly the latest EU or US version pkg patched by esc0rtd3w & launch it.
