PS3 OC PS3 Slim temps

I decided to re-apply thermal paste on my PS3 slim (2501A), so I could run an overclock without worrying about overheating issues. After cleaning the old crusty paste off, I put an even spread of MX-6 on both chips. I put a little extra paste in the shape of an X on both heatsink contacts as well. After applying the cfw (Evilnat's 4.91 CEX OC), I booted up Black Ops Zombies to check the temps. Using Webman Mod, I got ~61C-CPU, and ~67C-RSX at ~%28-%35 fan speed after 2 hours of playing. I booted up the PS3 this today, and did the same thing, using a different monitor at 720p instead of 1080p. In the first 20 mins, the temps- ~63C-CPU, and ~77C-RSX at %25 fan speed the whole time. I don't quite know why the fan speed is different, as it is set to SYSCON currently. I heard about the "rubber" method to get more heatsink contact on the chips, but I don't know what to do. I am open to ideas on why this is happening, and how it can be resoved. Thanks.

SYSCON fan speed controller is crap. Let WebMAN MOD handle it.

Also, you are using on OC, so higher temps are expected on RSX and you should increase the fan speed accordingly.

Which fan settings should I use in webman mod?
Another question, does webman mod use a noticable amount of resources? like CPU, RSX, and ram usage?

I'm using it with DYNAMIC (AUTO), which is quiet and keeps my Slim on the normal temps.

If the temps are goin up, the fan will kick in and speed up as it should.

UPDATE- Tried out the same game for an hour using the dynamic Auto #2 in WebMan Mod. this time- CPU- ~60C, RSX- ~66C.
I had a little issue when playing games while the fps counter is enabled- the audio will randomly turn off and refuses to come back unless you unplug and plugg back the HDMI cable. I tried the same thing without the counter enabled, and the audio performed as usual.

I think it was mentioned before in another thread that the FPS plugin can break some games or affect performance. That's why it's recommended to make tests with environments as clean as possible in order to not introduce foreign factors that may contaminate the test and return incorrect results.

Those temps are really good given the console is overclocked now and we are in the middle of summer! Nice work

I installed Evilnet OC firmware on my 2500 Slim and ran TLOU for 10 hours at room temperature of 20 degrees. The results were Cell: 57 RSX: 63 Fan: 29%. I adjusted the voltage of Cell and RSX. The cell was around 0.83v and the RSX was 0.85v. It turned out that the heat sink of Slim was too bad...

instead of eraser you could use thermal pad.

mx6 is a very thick paste, designed for direct die applications like xbox 360, laptops. You only need to spread thin layer of paste, no stupid X or Pea.

GPU temps are surprisingly higher than cpu, which is a concern. Could be a problem with a heatsink itself and require lapping.

[edit] since you have OC, obviously it will run HOTTER. Test everything in stock state, so we don't draw wrong conclusions.

On fat CPU is always hotter than GPU, but in slims difference should not be such significant. I only had launch Fat model.
