PS3 PlayStation Home Revived and Enhanced by Home Laboratory!

Home is back on the XMB in 2025! Download and Play just like it was originally!

I am pleased to present our extensive work on reviving and enhancing PlayStation Home. Led by AgentDark447, our team has developed an advanced, open-source iteration of this server platform, significantly expanding its capabilities beyond the original. Below, I outline the project's scope, technical advancements, and access instructions for those interested in exploring or contributing.

New Home Lab Trailer by Star_777

Video by SonyPsHomer showing some Real time features being applied to PS3 and RPCS3 simultaneously

  • Project Overview:
Home Laboratory has successfully restored PlayStation Home to an operational state for the first time on open-source software. Our initiative leverages server software created by us and facilitates a development environment similar to Sony's original framework. While still a work in progress, this will not merely be a restoration but a substantial evolution compared to the version you remember, incorporating thousands of developer-focused features designed to empower both creators and users.

Home lab team member @Rew hosts and maintains the PlayStation home multiplayer server. For any questions related to that he is the man to ask.

    Technical Enhancements:
    • Real-Time Inventory Management: A unique web-based system for managing in-game inventories.
    • Real-Time Remote Control System: A versatile tool enabling extensive control over the platform, accessible remotely via PC web browser. This is like an RTM tool on steroids.
    • File Manipulation Tools: Utilities to unpack and repack all PlayStation Home file types, providing full data access.
    • Open-Source Server Software: Available for deployment, allowing individuals to host private servers (note: this requires advanced technical expertise).
    • Custom Content Integration: Support for user-created content, deployable online for multiplayer interaction.
    • Developer Builds: A semi-recreated development environment mirroring Sony's, facilitating advanced modifications.

Don't have a PS3? You can join in on PC too, RPCS3 pkg available HERE

Don't want to update from the version of CFW or HEN you are on now, Get the latest PS3 pkg directly HERE

These features represent years of research and development, though the project remains relatively unknown so far, with our Discord community currently under 700 members.

    Recent Milestone: XMB Integration

.With the latest PS3 4.92 HEN update and Evilnat 4.92 CFW release, we have restored the PlayStation Home icon to the XMB, replicating its original functionality. Thanks to amazing developers @esc0rtd3w and @EviInat for that.

To access this new feature on the XMB:
    • Update your PS3 to 4.92 HFW and install the latest HEN, or install your Evilnat 4.92 CFW of choice.
    • Download PlayStation Home from the PSN category as originally intended.
    • Launch the application (PSN account required).
    • No DNS modifications or whitelists required.

Should you encounter issues, I am available to provide technical assistance here, with others on Discord.

  • Tools and Resources:

Our team has developed and collected an array of tools and data over the past few years, all publicly accessible. Here are some useful Home Lab-related links for those interested in knowing more:

Unlike other Home-related projects, we build and release our own software, and its all open source. This enables modifications such as adding or removing in-game assets, to creating new content with the Home development kit and then using that online.

Purpose and Invitation:
  • This project aims to preserve and expand PlayStation Home's legacy, offering a platform for both end-users and developers. Whether you seek to explore its features or contribute technically, we invite your participation. Given its limited public exposure, this is an opportunity to engage with this new community-building initiative in its early stages.

For anyone trying this out for the first time. If you want to be able to add/remove items in game there is more info on how to use http://psho.me here:

https://www.psx-place.com/threads/w...lab-playstation-home-content-catalogue.46985/

Here are the basics.

  • First get into the game, at the navigator is fine.
  • Visit http://psho.me/?List=MyInventory on a PC web browser to link your account
  • From then onwards you can right click items to add/remove from inventory (PS3 and RPCS3)
  • You can also choose to apply clothing and portables instantly, direct from psho.me bypassing inventory completely.

Pretty amazing what is happening already in Playstation Home over the last week, there are already hundreds of unique players connecting every day. All getting to enjoy Home again after all these years, or even enjoy it for the first time ever.

for anyone who want to see where other players are check out: https://pshomeologylab.net/players/

Once in game you can just double click the thumbnail on PC web browser to jump to that space on whatever you use to play, PS3 or RPCS3!

Been trying it. but without the people its just a curiosity. Was pretty sweet watching the PS4 revieal back in the day in the theater room.
True. It will never be as populated as it was.

On the other hand, it's only newly back on the XMB, and there are more people playing all the time. Hundreds of new people trying it every day, but between timezones, and 700+ scenes even with a few hundred on it will seem empty.

You can play Home like that yes. So there are 2 things there.

1. Spoofing since you are on 4.84:
  • You will need a PSN account to play so this means either updating to or spoofing 4.92
  • You can use webMAN mod and the ps3-updatelist.txt method to spoof 4.92 FW.
  • You just need webMAN mod plugin running and then add the txt file to the root of dev_hdd0.
  • webMAN Mod also allows you to use the button combo R2+Triangle before playing to delete history and disable syscalls.
  • If you want it, There is a little pkg here made by @LuanTeles that will install the required txt file to the correct location Download Spoof txt in a pkg
  • Note There is always a small risk when taking an exploited console online, but tbh I have not heard of any bans for years, like anything its at your own risk to spoof and or play online.

To manually install Home and play on older CFW/HEN:
  • Get the best Home Laboratory Playstation Home pkg here DOWNLOAD QA V7
  • Install it via package manager just like normal.
  • Press R2+Triangle to trigger wMM to clear history and remove syscalls
  • Sign into PSN and then Launch Home from the PSN category

I tryed to create a SEN account as I have non but I can't SEN website loads infinitly anybody has a workaround?

Make it on PC or phone or something. Then just login on ps3. The first login process is a bit annoying now too with mandatory 2 factor.

First of all thank you very very much for your awesome help. I got my home runnig with a borrowed account, still not able to creat a sen account idk must be a server issue from sony here in EU I guess.

But another issue. As I got plenty ps3's I decided to update one to latest evil nat xai updated to 1.22, really latest latest 4.92. i tryed to download home over xmb but it always crashes the download with (80023324) so I decided to go with the pkg and installed it from usb, but when I now try to launch it with the home xmb icon it still wants to download. I have to start it over the games section and deactivate syscalls AFTER I launched the gsme in ingame xmb.

Has anyone been banned from syncing trophies from this since they cant legitimately be unlocked anymore?
I have not heard of that no.

You can delete the TRP files and folders from the install if you don't want them.

That 80023324 error is probably just bad connection, ps3 wifi is pretty bad if you are using that.

For the app installing to game, it depend which pkg you install, we have both. If you install the pkg from my reply to you it will install to PSN category. DOWNLOAD

Just making sure. I synced my trophies and wasn't sure Sony would have a fit just because I got a trophy for a discontinued Online Service
