Just to clarify the situation as it seems some of you are getting confused about the needs for the project in particular and my position in regards to funding in general.
I will not open a patreon account, I am not Leonardo Da Vinci looking for one or more of the rich aristocratic f#ckers of his time to invest in him or his projects because he was unable to fund them himself.
It goes without saying I use Leo here as an example everybody knows, obviously NOT implying that I am a genius like he was, it's not the case.
Not ONLY don't I want the responsibilities that go with patronage or the interferences because at the end of the day, patrons are the boss in that setup, but also because I have no ambitions to fulfill that way.
Moreover I don't need anyone to pay for my work or my time, the money that's needed here is to pay the required services to let users access work that would otherwise remain private.
So really, when donating you are NOT helping me, ONLY yourselves.
Consequently, if anyone should consider opening a patreon account to collect funds, it's you guys, not me..
It's all about community, I keep saying it like a broken record, if you guys cannot organise to keep the shit you use alive and get new stuff developed but instead count on others to sort it out for their own reasons, you will end up getting a trickle of things at best and it will be fair.
And regarding the issue of money that might be donated but not used on the Toolset project.
You should know that on a personal basis, I enjoy being poor, life struggles get real, as real as they can get, I feel connected to the majority of human beings, not above them and I have no interest in changing that.
In a world that seems to have forsaken all forms of humanity and principles, I am proud to have kept mine intact.
If someone was ever to donate big amounts, I would spend all the money on the community one way or another, but I am pretty confident that this won't ever happen so it is all theoretical to get my point across.
