PS3 Project RSX Boost: Overclock your Retail PS3 RSX Speeds (ps3 cfw only)

Ive recently installed the OC OS and it crashed my system. I installed the non OC and it still crashes.

Im new to this whole OC PS3 thread. I wanted to try it and join the testing as ive done overclocking of PCs, laptops, and such. So I figured this would work decently.

Im wondering how to revert the OC if its still somewhere in memory. Id like to try the OC if anyone has gotten anywhere in terms of updates to it and so on... Im on a Slim 4.89 evilnat.

OC is done modifying a few bytes in lv1.self which set the GPU & GDDR3 RAM clock speed when the system starts.
After the system is started, the clock speed values are found in memory at variable locations and changing them don't affect the real clock speed. Therefore it must be changed in a decrypted lv1.self which is packed inside lv0.self.

The easiest way to change OC or uninstall it is reinstalling an OC or non OC firmware.

If your system still crashes after reinstalling OC, it could be due a bad software configuration (e.g. corrupted xRegistry.sys, vsh plugin, etc.) or maybe a hardware issue (e.g. defective HDD or component in PS3).

Check going to recovery and perform the repair options there. Also if you have a spare HDD, you could try swapping the disk before try other options like format HDD.

hey i was looking through this thread for a working rebug 600/750 pup, but every one is taken down..
any one got a mirror link or something?

Disclaimer: i haven't read all of the thread so it might be already answered.

Has anybody aside from the original author tried to run 650 on the core? Maybe it's just his RSX that doesn't play nice since silicon quality varies quite a lot in consoles.

Would it be possible to create an overclock OFW? What I mean is a modified firmware with only OC and nothing else, so that hopefully there wouldn't be any PSN ban risks if you want to enter the store, sync trophies and possibly play online.

I just want to play my retail games with OC. I'm not that interested in homebrew so it's a shame that PSN has to go, but I understand if that's not possible :)

@cheesemania yes it is possible but then the firmware could be installed only on consoles that support cfw.

Its not possible to install that firmware on 300x and 400x console.

U could use the mfw builder to do so by yourself, even if i dont reccomend it

Great, that sounds really interesting. I haven't looked into mfw builder yet, so it may be too difficult for me.

I will look into it when I get home :)
