PS3 Project RSX Boost: Overclock your Retail PS3 RSX Speeds (ps3 cfw only)

@LuanTeles
indeed, this was merely a test to show what could happen in worst case scenario. still have to try messed up core clock and get syscon log

btw, the full lv1 string of my DEB-001 65nm RSX is:
rsx65 a03 500/650 vpe:ff shd:7e [HBD639201:1:2:c:9:2:3:7:1][3d:0:2:0:1:2:0][2:1:0] (default clocks!)

@Tanzu15
I see, so you are afraid of an unrecoverable brick
I can assure you, there is no "point of no return", if you brick the internal flash (NAND, NOR), unless you mess up individual/per console data without any backup, or if sth burns out. then you are completely lost, even with a hardware flasher ;)

though, I am interested in Frankies with replaced Tokins, if the VRM can handle the OC better in the end than stock.
What do I need backed up to recover from things like this? I had backed something up when doing ps3toolset to usb. Forgot the name of it. I'm only curious to know the process of the flashers. I have 5 PS3s. Of course I'd love to preserve my fastest PS3 and have an out for things. It's why I'd like to learn and easily spend the money on a flasher.

Update

Mine is not that stable at 900 core at all, Crysis are random crashing, other games are ok!.

So i won't go any further, i'll stick with 850/1000. (It's a shame, because 900/1000 looks more pleasing to the eye. At least I reached God of War: Ascension running at 60 FPS.)

@JoeSapecudo tested for hours 900/1000 without any single crash and crysis is working fine.

Mine is the second fastest PS3, he have the fastest of all.
Yeah I kind of guessed no PS3 slim can do 950 stable ever. 900 stable would have been insane. So I might be able to do 850 core. Memory is what causes the bricks fast. From what I see from everyone here including my other 3 PS3 testing. If you're fully stable on the core, and move up 50 MHz, It doesn't seem horrible enough to cause a system wide brick without showing signs first. 1000 memory also seems possible on one of my slims but the core won't do past 700 stable. It's weird. I've tried 1000 MHz on 2 slims. And they don't brick. You think a high core with a high memory is what causes the memory to lose stability?

I've gone up to 700/800 on my CECH-2504A with datecode 0C and it seems completely stable though I'm not sure if going further is worth the risk considering I've wanted NFS Carbon to run at 60fps and it's still nowhere near it (around 40fps ingame)

Assassins Creed 1 I think did not improve at all, I guess it's purely bad programming / CPU bottleneck.

The darkness on the other hand is completely fixed now with the overlcock, no 15 fps lock like on a non-OC console

Can someone make a 650/925 CFW?
I know that 950 mem crashes and shows artifacts under load but 900 is totally fine.
Bro don't do more than 900. If 950 isn't stable. It's good practice to be 50 whole MHz or 100 MHz away from that Instability. Especially since memory is what causes all issues with the system if pushed too hard. I learned that the hard way.

It's pretty easy to build an OC PUP of @Evilnat if you use mfw. Just add the 4.91 keys using the bat. I think it has them up to 4.89 in ps3keys, but the bat knows the keys above I think 4.25 are the same, so it will add the keys to the keys' files in ps3keys folder, then you select the ps3keys folder in mfw. After that select the input evilnat pup and choose an output, and select the lv1 OC you want. After, choose 4.xx cex tar as base. Then, build. Only flash if you have a flasher though. Be very careful obviously.
Hello Charles, can you help us with the MFWBuilder we need sum support do you have discord ? You can add me on Discord : delixdex

You don't have to tell me that. I know what im doing since i was the one distributing the OC firmware. I know what my system can and can't handle. I just want to know the exact point.

Sorry to bother you, would it be possible to get some of these made with a 650mhz core and then 800mhz vram with 50mhz increments up to 1000mhz just so I can do some testing with one of my consoles? I do have a hardware flasher hooked up to my console as a backup but at 700mhz core it became unstable.

For those of you with a high clocking model. Can you please dump the LVL1 and post the RSX info section? I wanna test a hypothesis.

SONY line 3 is where the better VID binned (VIDbin 2) 90nm comes from. There is also a 65nm from SONY line 3 as well, but I'm not sure if anyone has overclocked one yet and compared it to those off line 2. So if the these higher clocking packages are from the SONY line 3, then they may be binned, explaining why they clock higher. Better silicon.

Or there could be no pattern and it's luck of the draw.

Fair enough. Though it's crazy how I went from full stable 950 to nearly fully brick on 1000 when all 3 of my other PS3s can do 1000 but will just have artifacts in game. But the 1000 on my other PS3 went full red with artifacts and ending in Freezing. I got real lucky I recovered it.

Holy shit it's you! I just saw your video on the yellow light of death. My god what a masterpiece. Oh and I'll share all my dumbs with you. I have 4 slims with the overclocks.
