PS3 Project RSX Boost: Overclock your Retail PS3 RSX Speeds (ps3 cfw only)

Could it be back then the hard drive being slow and pausing so hard it would crash? Back then we didn't have SSDs on consoles. And HDDs are known to cause crashes.
Maybe. But my PS3 is equipped with an SSD so in my case, probably not.
Also, this user report that MGRR is the only game causing this.
I'll try to update it tomorrow. Maybe it will solve the issue. Last time I played it, it was fully updated and I never had any crash. To be continued...

I did tell people what you needed to do. Download mfw builder from GitHub (the zip rather than cloning, because when I cloned, there was a weird error when building a mfw. It might've been a fluke though). Open the provided bat to add 4.90 and 4.91 keys. The keys are the same, since like 4.25, so it will add them. Open mfw as administrator, select ps3keys as the location of your keys. Then, select evilnat as the pup, output can be named whatever you want, but it may be required to have the PUP extension. Deselect both rebuilder options, select the lv1 overclock option, scroll down the list to what you want. Then build. I think that's it. Also, depending on where your mfw builder is you may have to give full privileges to the user group.
Thank you so much!! I just flashed Beta 7 750/900 on my 25xx without issue.

Try putting the keys.txt in ps3keys folder. Keys.txt is in the data folder. You can just leave it in there, but I'd suggest copying rather than a cutting and pasting.

I just overclocked my 25xx It lost all the stickers so I don't know any thing about it all info I got minver is 3.50 and this about the rsx from LV1 :
rsx40 a01 600/750 vpe:ff shd:3f [NN9634-19:0:4:13:4:f:6:0:2][27:0:e:0:1:0:1][1:1:0]
I just jumped to 700/900 straight it's a bad move but I did it anyway
Tested Games for 30m:
(GFWA) very stable and works great 50fpsAVG .
(Gta iv) works without any problems but I don't feel any performance difference from 600/750.
(Farcry4) now runs at 30fps all the time.
(Gta V) got no problems 30 fps most of the time sometimes drops to 27 or 26.
I don't think I will go higher because I don't want to brick my ps3

Hello everybody, first time posting here, but I've been following this thread and forum for some time and I wanted to chime in.

I'm first owner of a PS3 slim CECH-2504B bought more than 10 years ago. Only played some 10 games on it and then used it for streaming movies to my TV. Last year I almost sold it, but then I found this wonderful place and community.

I started using 750/950 B6 version and it proved stable, so I wanted to experiment for a bit. I've come up to 850/950, but on some games GTA4 in particular it started to crash. Crysis was stable at the time without artifacts. Temps were also good, around 65 - 68 at 37% fan.

Currently I'm on custom built new BETA 7 version with 900/900 as 800/950 also proved to be unstable at times and I wanted to mitigate loss of memory speed with core increase. Temps are still the same.
The only weird problem I get from time to time is, that sometimes on game launch from XMB, after changing iso from external drive, PS3 freezes. I have to reset it and then rebuild database and/or flash CFW again to make webman work.
I don't think it has something to do with OC, as this is happening on stock(500/650) and OC(600/750) as well as on older CFWs.
I've only opened PS3 once to dust it, but it wasn't even dirty as it was not used much. It's not repasted, but given temps below 70°C, I don't think it must be.

I suspect that something is wrong with the internal drive or the power supply, because external drive is 6 months old. What do you guys think?

LuanTeles did you manage to build CFW with mfwbuilder? I can help you as I've had same problems.

hmmm thats interesting. so september up to december have chances of having golden binned samples. thats insane. are you sure youve tested extensively. if its rock solid stable on crysis HD for hours an dzero artifacts at all, then you won the lottery.

UPDATE : Thanks to Metal Gear Rising Revengeance, I discovered two issues I hadn't noticed :
- While being at 700MHz/900MHz, the "Rebuild Database" function won't work as the PS3 do not reboot by itself.
- When trying to refresh XML/XMB games with WebmanMod, an error "80028f14" occur (but the refresh take effect, still).
- Maybe there are more anomalies to be found, but two are already too much for me to consider that 900MHz is stable and safe on a 2004B.

At start, I thought that this could be bugs due to Evilnat 4.91 still being in beta but no. Thanks to Charles_n_town, I was able to test 700/900 based on Evilnat 4.90 and those issues persist.
Lowering clocks values to 700/850 fixed this. (Can't explain why though)

Tonight I will test MGRR again to see if it continues to crash.
At base clocks, it seems to run perfectly fine. So no SSD issue either.

Friendship ended with Crysis. Metal Gear Rising Revengeance is the new TEST xD
(Nah, Crysis is a really good candidate too. I will now consider them complementary.)

UPDATE² : The strange issues were caused by the FPS counter plugin, it was not the VRAM fault.
Still need to investigate about MGRR crashing though.

Both are still needed for testing. Crysis still tells me everything else will be stable artifact wise. And I don't seem to have those instabilities and errors you have. But it's good data though. I'll definitely keep an eye on this. I'll go do some testing for a few hours in a bit. I'll be testing metal gear. See if these crashes happen.

It's interesting. Sometimes I got "80028f14" event on default clocks. Now I have 600/750, in my vision I have this error with the same probability
