PS3 Project RSX Boost: Overclock your Retail PS3 RSX Speeds (ps3 cfw only)

@bombjack2 2 hours of Skyrim at 700/900 without any crash.
So, Metal Gear Rising Revengeance really is the only game causing trouble on my 2004B. Strange.

Here my testing for model CECH-2500B LW, Jap console

I'm running my fans speed to %75 lol to avoid any overheat. and since the console is still not opened

my core limit is definitely 750, since I tried 800 and its shows artifact on both GOW and Crysis

Now I'm rocking with 750/975 and its stable on both GOW and Crysis

If someone can make 750/1000 and 750/1025, I would really appreciate it

Unless you want a brick. Do not do it. 1000 and 1025 is brick central.

I tried about an hour of Revengeance without issue. As we're seeing in this thread, every PS3 is different. So this crash was with the FPS counter disabled? Manual fan?
Yes the FPS counter was not activated but I've let the fan settings to "Auto, minimum 40% / maximum 50%, max 60°C". I'll try to set it to manual 40%, just to see.

Edit : Just tried once again with manual fan and same issue. I'll stick to 650MHz on core, it's safer.

@Mitsu™ Maybe I can try 850/1025 850/1050 850 /1075, because after reinstalling 850 1000, I played rdr 1 and gta 4 for a few hours, and there was nothing abnormal, and it was really smooth, give me these roms,i'll try again

Pls don't do 1025 unless you REALLY stress test and live on 1000 for a week lol. I barely made it out, and that one can go 800 core.

Hello Friends, This means that Ps3 2004a Models have 650 Max in the core, when the memory is set to 900, artifacts appear. 875 Mhz is not a problem, but it is better to use 850 Mhz memory, so after playing games for 1 week, 650/850 Mhz seems good to me.

Yes, while 700MHz on core is possible, 650MHz should be more reliable on the long run.
As for memory, 850MHz is a good compromise.
One thing to understand about overclocking (especially PS3 overclocking) is that it's always a good idea to keep a margin for better reliability. All models included.

I think that was it. I Waited half an hour and tried again, it worked without showing any artifacting. Perhaps the memory modules overheat at this high a clock? Thank you!
I think that's one of the problems with those older systems. They just abruptly shut off. I could've sworn the PS4 continued cooling for a few seconds more, when shutting down, and the PS5 uses an intake.

Does anyone have 700/850? I am on 600/750 right now and I've noticed a decent increase. Is 700/850 safe? I understand I have to run the fan higher, but is there any risk of damage? I am planning to frankenstein my BC PS3 to a 40nm soon.

Also, is there a way to uncap FPS? I want to play 60FPS on most games. Does the FPS overlay work on PS2/PS1 Games? I've tired but I can't get it to work for some reason. There's also black borders at the top and bottom of my screen when I play PS2 games widescreen, any help?

@Mitsu™ It's already half a brick, I don't care, it's just a pity for 900g games. Actually, I have a plan, because I can see the xmp interface, so I will freeze my ps3 in the refrigerator and then take it out to flash the system. I hope it will succeed

@Mitsu™ 850/1000 and 850/1025 are so similar, so I didn't expect that I couldn't successfully enter the system. I can only hear the sound of the system entering and the animation of not entering xmp. I hope it will be useful if frozen in the refrigerator.

Indeed, even 1000MHz is super risky. There will only be very few PS3 able to cross this barrier. That's why we keep warning about it.

I sincerely hope that your console will be fine, good luck.

Lol I totally understand the risk bro because I already bricked one already xD.

Right now this system can go 750/975 stable and Im totally not satisfied with the fps boost it's provided.

GTA IV still dipping to 15fps and GOW is nowhere near 60fps during gameplay.

basically if your system can't go high its not worth overclocking at all. IMO
