PS3 Project RSX Boost: Overclock your Retail PS3 RSX Speeds (ps3 cfw only)

Lol I totally understand the risk bro because I already bricked one already xD.

Right now this system can go 750/975 stable and Im totally not satisfied with the fps boost it's provided.

GTA IV still dipping to 15fps and GOW is nowhere near 60fps during gameplay.

basically if your system can't go high its not worth overclocking at all. IMO

thank you bro, I guess its time to brick my second PS3 lol.
Even 900/950 wasn't enough at all to get god of war to 60. People that say the game hits 60 with OC are wrong. The game during gameplay is in the 30s and 40s. It never clocks 60. That goes for most of the god of wars on PS3.

@Mitsu™ I didn't put it in the refrigerator. When I got up in the morning and entered ps 3, it prompted a file repair but the contents were still there. I increased the fan speed appropriately and saw that it was 850/1025. I didn't dare to continue using the remaining 1050 and 1075 because I felt that this machine had reached its limit. Next time it may not be that the file is repaired, but that it may not be able to boot at all.

Because hexadecimal values are just like this :
"\x0a\" = 500MHz core
"\x0b\" = 550MHz core

Regarding ps3MFW-Builder, I've just added 1025 and 1050MHz memory values and more warnings/instructions.
All the links (on the tutorial topic and in the video's description) are updated.

This is incredible thank you for making and sharing this, it's going to make testing overclocks so much easier.

One question, what CFW is this based on? Evilnat or your own custom flavor?

GTA IV is CPU bottlenecked, it's well known. Do not expect miracles in such games.
GoW Ascension can hit 60 FPS (≠ is always at 60fps stable) with high clocks. Nuance.
Even with the basic OC of 600/750 you can notice a difference in many games.
Just don't have irrational expectations.

GTA IV 存在 CPU 瓶颈,这是众所周知的。不要指望在这样的游戏中出现奇迹。
GoW Ascension 可以在高时钟下达到60 FPS(≠ 始终稳定在 60 fps)。

MOD EDIT: Please, provide an English translation.

I think OC is useful for GTA4. Whether it is a large scene or a place with few people, without OC, the most stuck time can reach the level of PPT.

After overclocking I downloaded Dante's Inferno and it ran very smoothly. I think the quality of this game is not inferior to God of War III. I don't know why Ign's rating is so low. This is the most underrated game.

I've not done that much but thanks !
You can use any firmware as a base with it !

Well, it's IGN :Y
I might try it one day, I've heard a lot of good about this game.

The scene I was using for the tests was the first one where the user gains control over Kratos, just for a fair comparison. It's not locked at 60fps, but it reaches that frame rate many times.

I posted screenshots at all frequencies, ranging from stock hitting a maximum of 37fps to 850/1000 hitting 60fps.

I may update it to run at 850/1200 to observe the differences, but OFC it will not keep the game at those frames all the time or in other scenes

900/1000 on my system it crashed most of the times before the playable scene, so i don't have any screenshot

but i can provide a 850/1200 soon (it maintains 60fps for longer)

The 60 FPS is only in these scenes that much ain't happening. Then when you play that shit is awful. Rather cap it to 30fps. It would keep 30 at all times.

Oh wow, really? So it basically takes existing CFW and adds overclocking to it - that's pretty awesome. Would I need firmware that already has an overclock feature to it or would any custom firmware work to add clocks?

For instance could I take Evilnat's latest 4.91 CFW and then add my preferred clock speeds to it, export a PS3UPDAT.PUP and then upgrade the firmware via USB like normal to add the new clock speeds?

Just want to make sure I'm understanding right as to not do something stupid and brick my console lol.

For PS3 games I'd much rather have a consistent 30fps capped than have the potential of 60fps and have jumps and dips in frame rate all over the place, just my personal preference.

Same. I rather keep a constant 30 on all PS3 games. But on call of duties it has to be 60 FPS.

Yo lets show us the Speeds with a Picture, we want to see if its true that your console can runs 1200 at the Memory Clocks so post a picture

God of war collection 1 and 2 to me are solid 60, 3 plays in the 50s and ascension 40s to 60s

Reminds me if this other person who said his ascension is always 60 hahahaha mind due no OC on superslim, is it possible though?

The temperatures for last clock lmao I usually pump my fan very high but I'm chilled on 56% now

It's probably unlikely. 1025 has already turned my game console into a brick.

I registered to share my experience. I have 2508b (russian regional model) with date code 0d. I've come this way: 600\750->700\900->750\1000->850\1025 and 850\1050 almost completely turned my console into a brick. recovery mode stucked up and I had to freeze the console in the freezer for 30 minutes, after that I rolled back to 850\1025, which work absolutely stably. It was scary, but deep down I craved this dangerous feeling. I have found memory clock limit, but the core clock limit has not been found yet by me. I urge everyone to be extremely careful after 1000mhz mem clock, I was careless, but I was ready to brick my console without regrets.

ps: sorry for my bad english. it was very interesting and joyful for me to take part in overclocking testing.

The firmware you plan to use should not already be OC patched or it won't work.

For instance could I take Evilnat's latest 4.91 CFW and then add my preferred clock speeds to it, export a PS3UPDAT.PUP and then upgrade the firmware via USB like normal to add the new clock speeds?
Yes, I use the latest beta myself ! It's as simple as that.

Hi, do you have any tips on how to check for errors? My 1A 2504B (-GGB) for now passes short test in Crysis at 750/900 and I'm not sure if I should try pushing it further

Crysis, GOW Ascension, Assassin's Creed: Black Flag, Metal Gear Rising.

The problem with OC is you can brick ps3 just by 1 step increase. Everyting is fine, you decide to increase +50 for gpu or +25 for ram and after this you can't restore firmware without special stuff
