PS3 Project RSX Boost: Overclock your Retail PS3 RSX Speeds (ps3 cfw only)

I've been working with my frankie for a few days now and i must say that stability testing on that thing is really hard. At 25% fan speed the RSX doesn't cross 58C so i can't really test higher temperatures. It's the weirdest problem to have.

Edit: My old 650/850 looks good so far too. Lets see how fast she can go.

Okay, my 21xxx series ( i need to check if the shell is the original one) started crashing (image freeze with playing sound) at 850/1025 MHz, although it was working fine before. I found that the issue occurs when the GPU reaches 71ºC, so I set my dynamic cooler to a maximum temperature of 68ºC, and now it's working well.

The same thing happens with my 2504A (CXD5300CGB). 850MHz core is stable only if the GPU temperature stays ≤70°C.

If it's not stable at a higher temperature, it's not stable. I recommend setting webmanmod to auto 80C (max), it will keep the gpu in the high 70s, never touching 80, to test stability. This was standard procedure for gpu overclocking this generation of desktop video cards, unless going for overclocking records.

Then before flashing to a faster, set fan fixed max speed in case of bricking.

Problem is there's no other chipset based on the curie architecture that went below 80nm. So the 65 and 40nm RSX is entirely unique as far as overclocking. There's no way to know how much voltage is too much, for example. Nvidia's Tesla architecture is different.

I can say however, the higher the overclocked the lower RSX temps have to be kept to stabilize.

For statistics:

FAT CECHK08
DIA-002

IHS removed: CELL and RSX
Thermal paste: MX4
Cooler control: Syscon

Core: 600Mhz stable everywhere.
650Mhz just freezes after 20 seconds or a minute
in The Last of Us intro (window with curtains).

Memory: 900Mhz is stable everywhere without problems.
(K4J52324QC-SC14) I'm afraid to get bricked if I raise it above 900Mhz.

Yeah don't push it. You'll get a brick for sure. 900 memory is already insane. That shouldn't even be possible on fats.

I have a very strange RSX. A very bad core, not even 650MHz. But the memory is easily 900Mhz. The test has been carried out for two weeks in the most difficult games. There is not a single sign of memory instability. Maybe I'll try 925 :)))))))

I finally found a1 model with 5300ggd rsx. I have 2 a1, 3 0d and 2 0c. One 0d has 5300cgd rsx. All other have 5300a1gb… 5300ggd works fine with 900/950. Didn't go father. Should I try more?

900/950 should be good enough, and going higher than that won't significantly increase performance. However, if it's stable, you can push the VRAM a little further

First let the RSX reach 70ºC or more to say if it is stable or not
