PS2 Classics GUI

PS3 PS2 Classic GUI v2.2.3

Try this plugin. Option "Clean Transparent" is key here. In GIMP using default PNG plugin it is also possible but this is differently named there. And obviously, image but be 32bit. 24 or 16 will not work, and also 8bit indexed also will not.

I'm using Photoshop to edit.
The templates i downloaded from here are transparent already, i just place image of cover on bottom layer and resice acordingly.
In Ps i can see transtarancy.

Is there any difference in using GIMP's "clean transparency" and in photoshop saving the png with transparent background?

Ignore the "black bars". That is an issue of the old image controls in the development tool that I used (VB5).
The preview is just to give you an idea of how it will look. It is not a perfect representation of XMB.

The intrinsic image controls in VB5 doesn't support PNG. To show PNG I have to convert the image to raw bitmap.
In the process the transparency is lost, and I replace it with a black color.

In PS3PKG GUI I added support for transparent PNG using an OCX, but I dislike external dependencies.
I don't mind if it has black bars instead of transparent image, as long as i know that's the case its fine. I thought i don't do something wrong on PC part.

It seems that the issue was that first time i made a PKG, when i placed the image it was named "ape escape 2.png", but now that i changed the name to "ICON0.PNG" its showing as transparent in XMB.

Im still to test this to be 100% sure if naming is the key factor here in showing a transparent image in XMB!

By the way, it would be cool to edit text on the fly inside software in PIC0.PNG.

P.S. Whats the official PS2 classics font used for description and the title?

Screenshot which I attached was from Photoshop... And I said that You should try this plugin (this, means that from screenshot in earlier post).

Difference between stock PNG plugin and custom PNG plugin, is first is piece of shit not develop further by lazy Adobe since CE.

I actually fixed the problem with transparency in XMB!

Its not the plugin or settings, its as i said earlier, i tested it again. The picture must be named ICON0.PNG
before placing it in for conversion. (idk if capital letters are required, but i advise to do so just in case)
Strange but it worked for me!

As for PIC0.PNG or the description, ill share my PhotoShop template with fonts and settings, size, you just enter the text.
I entered the text on my templates from back of PS2 box official descrition.

Why it is strange? Bitmaps and meta data files paths are hardcoded. If You don't follow the naming nomenclature, You will not see it read. On all consoles.

"Clear transparent" is mandatory option for XMB icons for PS3 and PSP, or else You will see glitches. Just FYI.

PS3 files are case sensitive. ICON0.PNG, PIC1.PNG, PARAM.SFO, CONFIG, etc. should be in all caps.

It is strange, cause average user doesnt know that.
Here i spent a day figuring this out, and no one, even here told me this. I saw the solution from another guy on this forum who had same problem after i decided to research about this.

I think it should be mentioned somewhere in manual (if its not) that Naming is important,
the tool should automatically rename wrongly named files to remove faults such as these transparency issues.

While the program works perfectly on my old half-dead Windows 7 Acer laptop, it's always giving errors on my new Windows 10 Dell laptop. Does anyone know the cause of it?

When i press the black folder and select my iso file and press open the program closes after 5 seconds, why is that happeneing and how do i fix that?

Did you try disabling DEP?
It causes lots of issues. Check the URL in my previous post.

To be honest i'm curious why some people need this. I never mess with my DEP settings, and everything work as intended. Maybe it is some anti virus that get overprotective and set DEP for all programs or something like that?

I believe my Windows 10 install always default to Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only.
Which work perfectly with all tools from Aldo, and still protect windows files just in case.
Dunno, maybe some manufacturers set it to Turn on DEP for all programs except those that I select?
But doesn't that be problematic for emulators etc then, due to recompilers, and jits?

Just to be clear, my W10 is always up to date, and is legit without any loaders, etc. I'm using Kaspersky AV. And tested ps2 classics app, and it just work..

It is not clear for me why only certain users need it. It could be a configuration specific (certain processors or Windows versions or memory installed). The fact is that this Windows safety feature is what breaks the program in most of the cases.

It crashes every time I try to Ioad an ISO It was working fine but from yesterday it started to have problems, any solutions?

I have several questions about PS2 Classic GUI. It is a great program and works great running PS2 programs with 4.88.2 Evilnat on my original PHAT PS3. I especially appreciate that it has save files for each PS2 program. I have many ISO files from my discs that I bought for my PS2.

It seems like the files used by PS2 Classic GUI are the full size ISO (4GB or 8GB) yet the size many of the ISOs can be reduced substantially with simple programming. Has that feature ever been thought of to be added to the PS2 Classic GUI? The PS3 has a limited amount of disc space even though you can change the internal PS3 disc to increase it. Network files don't work with PS2 Classic GUI since it seems to have to store the .ENC files on the internal disc only to actually run the programs. Neither does the ability to run the PS2 Classic GUI files from an NTFS or exFAT external disc.

Do the running PS2 programs use the PS3 hardware built in to PHAT models or is this only emulation? I ask because I am confused why PS2 ISOs don't seem to work well with my PHAT so I need to use PS2 Classic GUI to get them to work. Does the PS2 hardware on the PHAT only work with PS2 discs and not with ISOs? Some PS2 ISOs worked for a while on my PS3 but later refused to work. I am confused what was the change that caused the PS2 ISOs to stop working?

The PS2 Classics games use ps2_netemu (even on PHAT model). That emulator has several limitation, including that only can play games from the internal HDD. Therefore it is not possible to play games from NTFS, FAT32 or exFAT. webMAN MOD allows to list the games from these devices and copy the game to the internal disk before mount the game.

In webMAN's Setup there is a Cobra option that allows to use ps2_netemu or the hardware emulator.
It is possible that your ISO stopped to work if you changed that option on the PHAT model.

On CFW, it is recommended to use ISO instead of .BIN.ENC. The PS2 Classics are required only on HEN.

The PS2 Classics GUI requires the full size ISO unmodified. If you trim or modify the ISO, many games will stop working because they use hardcoded LBA.
