PS3 PS3 audio crackling and distorted in games

Hello

So I've had this issue for several years now and i don't know what causes it.

The issue in question is that some times, seemingly at random, my audio in game will start to constantly crackle and become completely distorted (it sounds like a continuous fire burning in my headphones). It will stay like this forever unless i quit the game, at which point the issue resolves itself instantly. I can restart the game and the audio will be fixed but i usually turn off the system when this issue happens just in case. It's not a common occurrence, it will happen somewhat rarely (maybe less than 10 times a year?) but it has been happening for years, maybe since a year or two after Dark Souls 2 released (first time i experienced it). I have the audio coming through the HDMI cable to my crappy TV which then converts it to analog for some PC speakers which i then connect my headphones to (yeah, i know). Seeing as the issue resolves itself when i quit back to the XMB menu it has to be the console, right? Can someone tell me what could be causing this issue? Should i be worried? I really hope not cause i have an extensive backlog on this system and i play it at least every week :(

The model is a Slim 3000 something, the one that came with the 320GB. I'm a good boy, i don't have any custom firmware installed, it's a "legit" system. I have an SSD installed recently but the issue has happened with my previous SSHD and pretty sure with the stock HD as well. It happens in disc and digital games. Off the top of my head I've seen it happen with Dark Souls 2, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 and Bad Company 2.

Thanks for your time.

Can you try an optical cable to connect the PS3 to the TV and see if the issue happens, too?
I neglected to reply to this because i was gonna get a RCA to 3.5mm cable to test the analog audio but i never got around to. No, i don't have a optical cable.
