PS3 PS3 boots and after 40 sec shuts down

Hello Fellow ps3 owners.

Ive got a ps3 from a friend for free, but the catch was "its broken".

When i power it on:
it starts to boot and after about 40 seconds it shuts down and start flashing red.
The only thing I see on the screen is that no hard drive inserted (it does not have one and I will buy one if the PS3 can be fixed).. But that screen only lasts for a second or two and then it shuts down.

Things i tried:
google/reddit/this forum
Booting without Blu-ray drive attached
Cleaned the device
Removed and checked the PSU, wich looks good (no swollen caps).

Can anyone help me further? It would be greatly appreciated.

unfortunately, your PS3 has gotten the YLOD,
Which stands for "Yellow Light Of Death". The YLOD means your PS3 has a component failure or some sort of damage done to the internals. Fixing it would most probably fail.

Thanks for your reply.
What I don't understand that it can boot and even show the HDD missing message and then turn off..
I mean it works and then suddenly a component stops working.

In the meantime I've tested the PSU output just tu be sure and it delivers 12.3 volt as it should and for more then 30 min.

I think I will do the syscon and try to get a error code.
Any advice?

The video shows red color on the led-light.
Red flashing light usually means overheating, if im not mistaken - did you check the thermal paste when you cleaned it?

Thermal paste was oke, and the PS3 shuts down after about 40sec.
That's not enough time to overheat.

I tried reflowing the CPU en gpa with a heater.
..
And it seems to be working now.
It stays on for hours, so this seems to have fixed it (permanently?)
