PS3 PS3[CFW] No longer Running Games Off HDD

So here is my issue.
I am running Firmware 4.81 with 7.31 Cobra

I have been playing my backups via my 2TB external HDD, and in times past I used a 1TB drive also.

Now, if I start a game, say Deadpool, or any game for that matter, it will either say the game data is corrupted, and needs to be deleted, freeze up and I have to console off and on, or Multiman will fail to recognize the HDD, in slot 2.

Now I recently downloaded Artemis, and though I am not blaming the cheat engine, or anyone, the issue REALLY started acting up. I cheated a few games, and from time to time they would freeze up. I am able to play package installed games, but zilch from the external HDD files. I have the drives formatted correctly, and have used multiple drives to test this.

I think it's possible my cfw is corrupt?, the ports on my system are going out? No game on my external HDD will run for very long, before usually freezing up and crashing. Or I get the dirty disk error.

I am sorry this is so wordy, however if I explain fully, perhaps I could get some much needed direction.

Thank you and regards.

CFW is not corrupted, or else You will not be able to boot console or she will freeze at some point (not related of games freezing).

Maybe this specific game is not compatible with so called JB format? Use disc image.

Thank you for the reply. I do not think it is a incompatibility issue. I still wonder if my internal hard drive in the ps3 itself might be corrupt? Thus needing to be reformatted? Or me using Artemis as a cheat program could have corrupted internal memory values? Should I pull the internal PS3 hard drive out and reformat it? Install, or reinstall my CFW? Thank you for the reply in helping.

what is this error? are you talking about the disk check that shows at boot if you do not shutdown properly?

or is there an error code number displayed?
Usually it's the dirty disk error. Again, I am getting this from games played through an external hard drive. I read that the PS3 ports can also be a issue, needing to be replaced. I though about reinstalling my firmware, as I want to upgrade it anyways. Perhaps I will simply format the internal hard drive, and update the cfw. If that doesn't work, my only other guess is that the front ports on my ps3 are garbage, thus I would need to soder on some new ones. I am using a 2TB Easystore hard drive, and have had no issues in times past using external drives. Is it still possible for my cfw to be corrupt? Would updating it help? Or should I completely reformat the internal PS3's HDD?
Thanks again, this only started up after I began using Artemis to cheat. Perhaps I corrupted something?

I hope the mods do not mind me double posting. I just wanted to say, I restarted the console in safe mode. Come to find out, my main system file was corrupted, due to all the freezing from using that blasted Artemis chest engine. Lesson learned, no more cheating for me.

After repairing the system file, the issue disappeared, and after two hours of Deadpool, I have yet to encounter this again.

For anyone else that has this issue, boot the console into safe mode, and repair your system file, especially if your console has issues with crashing a lot.

Thank you again for all the replies. And if a mod sees this, you can lock this thread up.
May you all be blessed in whatsoever you may do, endure, and prosper.

And no sooner than I typed that, just about ten minutes ago, the error occurred again. I think my ports may be bad, I am pulling the hard drive out and reformatting it. If that doesn't work, then I have to replace the front ports. No idea what's causing this. I really believed fixing the system file fixed it, I guess it just isn't so..:apologetic:

Reinstalling fw or reformatting HDD will not help You. Issue is somewhere else IMO.

No, Artemis cannot corrupt any data on internal mass storage or flash. All cheats are in RAM.

Understood. I pulled the internal hdd out, reformatted via pc, and installed evilnats 4.86 cfw. So far no issues, since no values are corrupted, and in the event the issue does occur again, I only have one more thought. And that is to replace the usb ports, as they could be malfunctioning. Glad to know Artemis only uses local ram to cheat, that means if I get this fixed, I can go back to being a dirty, filthy cheater, hahaha. I hope it was a software issue, and not a motherboard chip failure, or even replacing the USB ports. For now I am going to play test my butt off, if after a few days I don't have a issue, we can all gather the reformat/reinstall did the trick.

Thanks Berion for the heads-up about Artemis, I figured it wasn't the culprit, just the coincidence made me a tad paranoid.

So I now realize that some of these errors occur after the machine has heated up. I have my fan speed set to keep the machine at 140F. After an hour of playtime, I deactivated the dynamic fan control, and sure enough after twenty more minutes, I got the error on Deadpool. So if I simply assume that my PS3 is either overheating internally, should I do another teardown to see if anything internally has stopped working, at least to regulate internal temperature? Again, I moved my machine closer to my window, and even used a nice boxfan to keep the air circulation. It would seem that even multiman fails to recognize the hdd in port 2 after the machine has heated up. I know heat kills, especially electronics, so any advice to keep the Temps down would be appreciated.

I shut the machine down after the error, waited about 90 minutes, and was able to play some more. After about another 45 minutes, the same errors occurred. Game freezing, dirty disk errors, ect.

I may need to send the PS3 in for services, as I am in the US, anybody know of any reputable companies who could reball the machine for me?

This weekend I plan on tearing down my PS3, I have some decent thermal paste to add. So far I moved my machine to a different area and have play tested it.

The temperature does have a correlation to why the machine starts acting up. I booted it up, and all my hdd games were scanned and appeared on multiman. I let it idle for 45 minutes, and sure enough, I ran into errors. I plan on checking my hard drives again to make sure there are no bad sectors. I do think heat and wear and tear are most likely the culprit, even though I stopped using my PS3 for awhile. At least Evilnat's newest firmware is a blessing for easy non-webman modded fan control!
