I have this A01 console with 21 days played on firmware 2.3.0 that wont boot. It had a few 802022 errors and GLOD. This is the SB log

Anyone know if or how this can be fixed? Ive tried 2.3.0 and 3.55 on a USB stick but it doesnt attempt to scan it for an update file. The console didnt come with the original HDD either.

I could be wrong but isn't Service Mode (so called Recovery, not Factory Service Mode) was added in 2.50? On 2.30 without it, you cannot format disk, which is needed, eg for update because it is there where package is unpacking before installing start. If you could dump ERK, that could be fixable by preparing HDD on PC but in current state it is impossible to retrieve it.

I do not know how fw behaving on such old version so above information could be wrong at all.

Thanks for the response.

Is there a way to update the NAND manually?

When using the bringup command it occasionally does a video reset or a double beep for recovery mode. It did this on a console on 1.0.3 Is there a command to force a recovery mode boot?

ZephRay got the same error as you @Ganjo. Maybe following the responses will give you a hint.

Can I get some advice on repairing? Got a CECHA machine with unknown history, the warranty sticker is still there so, no delidding, hardware is all original. After powering on, it does one beep, shows a solid green light, and then after about 30s it shuts off. No video at all.

I attached the SYSCON UART, the errlog is empty. Did a bringup, also does not report any error. So I enabled the SB UART, and got the following boot message:

The mounting HDD1 part took a very long time, and it doesn't change if I just don't install HDD at all, or install a HDD from another CECHA PS3, or a blank HDD. (I never looked at SB UART before so I am not sure if this unable to mount hard drive issue is expected or not). Then the sys_init_osd.self error is a bit more worrying. Did the previous owner maybe somehow corrupted the flash content? What should be the first step of trying to fix this? Thanks.

Do you have a link to that thread?

I watched the NSC mods video but you have to enter recovery mode and firmware 2.30 doesnt have it.

The other problem with doing a blind update on a firmware this old is that there is an additional screen that pops up telling you that installing a newer firmware will get rid of Other OS. I dont remember how many screens you have to go through
