I have a ps3 cecha00. I needed to upgradd its original 60gb hdd to a 500gb hdd. I bought a pulled wd blue 500 2.5 sata hdd. When i removed the old one and put the new one,it formated it. All is good untill. I installed webman and set my setting for tempeprature etc and a game. When i turned off the console and turn it on again, it sort of Partially recognized it. Webman was showing but when i clicked on a game the xmb froze. And i had to hard restart the console. After it went through with its corrupt file ritual. The same situation was presented. I did not start game again.

After i turned off the console normally anad turmed it on again. Ps3 said "Hard drive not recognized". I pulled the hard drive after turning off the console and put another 110 gb hdd from an old ps3 in. It went and recognized it no problem. All games working and everything.

I DID notice the 500gb hdd had slightly different pins but it was still a SATA 2.5 hdd.

What do you mean slightly different pins? What's the model of 500gb?

Sounds like a failing drive otherwise. Can you test it on PC?

Pins shape was a straight bar with become smaller at the top. As opposed to normal bar shapped pins on the oem drive. And it was a little thinner also, the drive i mean. It was a Wd blue hdd.
