PS3 PS3 random shutdown

Hello everyone,
Something weird just happened with my CECHE01 PS3, I got it last month as a broken unit and managed to fix it, the only problem was a loose flat cable between the motherboard and the switch board, and have been using it mainly to play PS2 games with no problems, it's updated to the latest OFW.
Today I tried a PS1 game, so I turned on the PS3 and after just booting into the game the PS3 shut off, beeping 3 time and the red LED flashing, I wasn't paying attention when the game booted so didn't notice if the yellow LED flashed, it is the first time this happened, could this be some error with the emulator or is the first sign of a YLOD?
After a reboot it worked normally, booted the game again with no problems and stayed on.
So, this could be some random error?

Yes, it could be a random error, but I would keep an eye on temperature, as fats are more prone to overheating problems.

Thanks for the reply jcorrea,
Played GoW 2 for around 3 hours and nothing unusual happened, temps seems fine too, after some time playing PS2 games the fan usually only ramp up one or two "steps" from when it's "idling".
Forgot to mention, but after fixing it, I cleaned it and applied new thermal paste.

I guess this PS3 is really dying, happened again, but this I saw the YLOD, one time yesterday and two times today, but this time was at the boot process.
But after the PS3 sucessfully boots it works fine, gonna get the SYSCON error codes, this behavior could indicate the NEC/TOKIN caps are dying?

my fat was working fine unless i started a game too quickly and it had to read/write to the hard drive a lot. it would suddenly shutoff while loading. then it started happening in graphics heavy stuff. eventually it would shutoff after turning on for about 3 seconds.

even now it will boot but i may have to try two or three times. i have noticed that it will work normally if i let it sit for 10 or 15 minutes after turning it on. i now only get the shutdown in one menu if i move around quickly.

i was told it could be caps but that it may also the power supply. there is a list on devwiki that tells which power supplys are compatable with your model.

If you are ok with soldering, then connect a usb ttl serial lead 3.3v to the syscon RX,TX pins - you have a COK-002 board.

Then look at my guide https://github.com/db260179/ps3syscon/blob/master/PS3-Uart-Guide.pdf

The error codes from syscon will give you an idea of your issue.

The next big issue is having the tools to fix it - which unless you are willing to invest then you will need to get a professional to fix it.

I checked the HDD with crystal disk info and it's healthy, also played some GoW 3 after the issue and had no problems too, luckily I have some spare compatibles power supplies to test here, thanks for the info.

My soldering skills are very basic, but with some patience I think I can do it, also have an YLOD board from another E01 that I got for parts, that someone already attempted the tantalum fix, so gonna used it as a test subject :D.

Also, great guide, I really hope it's not related to BGA problems, because than it's really not something I can fix myself.
