PS3 PS3 SCALER ISSUES

Hi,

I have a PS3 CECHG01 with latest CFW Evilnat 4.90 Cobra 8.4 [PEX] [CEX] [OC].
I had an issue launching PS2 ISO's and the solution was to set SETTINGS/GAME SETTINGS/PS/PS2 - Upscaler to Normal instead off OFF.

When the game is launched you can set it back to OFF by pressing the PS BUTTON/OTHER SETTINGS/OFF you can turn the scaler OFF and it works without scaling the image.

For PS1 games though you cant turn it OFF with PS BUTTON/OTHER SETTINGS/OFF.

Anybody has an idea why it crashes in the first place with PS2 games. I have a Samsung Evo 500GB SSD in it. I don't really want to try and change it back to a normal hard drive to see if this would solve the issue :-p.

Everything works, it's just tedious if I want the scaler OFF on both PS1 and PS2 games.

Regards,

SSDs are known to cause issues with PS2 games, either before or after game boot. There is no simple nor clear answer, just that SSDs on the PS3 cause more harm than good.

Use a hybrid hdd, those with ssd cache partition, they are significantly faster than normal hdds, and almost no difference between them and ssd when used on a ps3. Digital foundry have a video about hybrid hdd on ps3. It's the best option imo and it doesn't have the ssd issues.
