Hi, thank you for helping!
Unfortunately the "Select anywhere" option is probably removed, on my computer it says:
"Turn off apps recommendations"

That one was already set so I doesn't help.


EDIT: I found an old w7 computer to extract the files in. I zipped them and sent them to my w10 computer so it's all good. I can't help to think that the "installer" is pretty unnecessary, any license agreements could be put in some included text-file instead.

Nope not removed at all.... Has been in Windows 10 from when it was fisrt released.

I'm trying to use the Game Updater, entered the IP of the console but it freezes shortly after starting to read GAMES folder. Any ideas?

It does that for me as well. So I don't bother using it.

You can download game updates as normal on a PS3 without signing into PSN, all you need is the PS connected to the internet.

Just mount the game to the XMB press triangle on the game > Check for Updates

Or if you would prefer to download them manualy to your PC so you have them backed up to use anytime you want, you can download them directly for the servers using your PC web browser.

I am going to use BO1 as an example....

Firstly open a new tab in your browser, then paste this URL in... but don't load it yet...

Next replace the title ID of the game in RED with the title ID of the game you want to download the updates for then load the page... you might get an Insecure page warning but just accept and continue to load the page and you will see something like this...

You can right click on the page and select " Save as " to save this xml. In the XML you can see the download link in RED .

This only has 1 update still "Active" but other's have more. Copy and paste these URL's into your browser's address bar and the game update will start to download. DO this for each of the updates in order and install them on your PS3 in the right order.

You can also see other usefull info in the XML like the PKG's SHA-1 hash check which you can use to verify the PKG file is ok and has not been corrupted in anyway during the download.

And you can also see the PKG Size as well so you know its the right size when its finished downloading. PKG size is in Bytes.

I tend to edit the XMLs so they look like this so its easier to read in the future if you ever need to download them again..

I just wanted to use my pc to download game updates because for some reason the ps3 download speed is slow as hell. Unfortunately the PS is far far away from the modem and the WiFi signal is not that strong.
 
Recently got into using these tools again and realized yet again a before mentioned issue with BSD.

Upon launch it checks for updates (cheats DB etc) as it states it's currently at 2014 version. Updating bumps it to 2015 version, but at next launch it's back at 2014. And as stated before, manually updating the DB, games.conf and titleid files does not work.

Has anyone found a solution to this issue?

I have taken ownership of the entire folder (ps3tools) and it's installed in it's default location. Also write protection can't be removed (perhaps that's part of the problem?).

Just disable the update check at start up of BSD (there is a check box for that in the update screen).
AFAIK The database is not longer maintained.

Your question is vague.
Does what exactly work with HEN?

The PS3 Tools collection by aldostools is a suite of tools for PC, the tools do not run on the PS3.
The files its various tools may create/tweak like pkg, self, etc.. to be used on the PS3 should run just fine with HEN.
I haven't reviewed all the included tools recently to list the specific features that may be for CFW only but generally speaking PS3 Tools can be used for both CFW & HEN.
 
I apologize in advance if this is out of line or in the wrong place, but I'm working on a tool for a PS3 game that requires editing save files. While Bruteforce Savedata works flawlessly, I want to have that functionality built into my tool so that it's essentially "drag and drop" for PS3 users without having to use multiple tools. Does Aldostools or anyone else have any documentation about the method Bruteforce Savedata uses to decrypt and encrypt saves? Or is the source public at this point? I tried the PS3 dev wiki but may have just not found the correct page

apollo save tool has many save functions (some based on bruteforce). the github repo is here. there are some other save related repos on that github as well.

Thanks a ton, actually ended up using pfdtool and it works perfectly. Thanks to the custom macOS binary released by another forum user, will also probably be able to get everything working on macOS too

I lost every key from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\CommandStore\shell\Aldostools.*

So the context menu 'SELF Tools', 'SPRX Tools' doesn't work anymore, i can't go to the sub menu.

I tryed to reinstall the collection as administrator, compatibility : windows 7, and it doesn't work. do you have a reg file to create the keys in registry ?

Try this:

1-Go to %userprofile%\ps3tools\ps3tools\tools\registry patches

2-Run remove_ps3tools_file_associations.reg

3-Then run PKG_ContentID.exe as Administrator.

- Fixes PKG_ContentID, PS3 Game Updates & Games Database (maybe more)

I thought I had done this last week but perhaps not in that exact order.

Well, at least it's all working now. :topsy turvy:
