BTW while we are waiting, now is a good time to contribute by DONATING to help pay for server costs.

talking about it, which is the right paypal address to send donations for the bgtoolset? I'll be happy to help a bit to cover those hosting bills :)
last year I sent a small donation to paypal.me/nopsn (the link from **ps3xploit.com >Domain no Longer owned by team** (ps3xploit.me =new)) but I'm not sure if it's shared with the toolset or not.

2. I checked the ** ** www.ps3xploit.net > Domain no Longer owned by team** (NEW URL = http://ps3toolset.com) > Domain no Longer owned by team** (NEW URL = http://ps3toolset.com donations which are dedicated to PS3 Toolset hosting needs.
There was just one single 7 euro donation (thanks to the donator) for the PS3 Toolset project in the past 6 months.

I guess ** ** www.ps3xploit.net > Domain no Longer owned by team** (NEW URL = http://ps3toolset.com) > Domain no Longer owned by team** (NEW URL = http://ps3toolset.com donations do go to maintaining the toolset (at least hosting-wise). Maybe the BTC donations are to donate directly to @bguerville (like a BuyMeACoffee kind of deal, perhaps?).

I haven't used other platforms than PP so far for the Toolset project, not just to keep things simple but also because the volume of donations is so small anyway that I think I would be wasting my time managing extra accounts.

A couple of years ago, various people asked if we would take crypto so I added a BTC wallet address for the PS3 Toolset. There has been one donation in 18 months.
Consequently, I am not sure I want to bother with another platform...

Speaking of crypto, if for privacy reasons someone prefers to donate other crypto directly rather than convert to BTC, he/she can pm me for a wallet address.

The nopsn PP goes to Jason for **ps3xploit.com >Domain no Longer owned by team** (ps3xploit.me =new) domain + hosting as well as ** ** www.ps3xploit.net > Domain no Longer owned by team** (NEW URL = http://ps3toolset.com) > Domain no Longer owned by team** (NEW URL = http://ps3toolset.com domain.

BTC or PP to team@** ** www.ps3xploit.net > Domain no Longer owned by team** (NEW URL = http://ps3toolset.com) > Domain no Longer owned by team** (NEW URL = http://ps3toolset.com goes towards ** ** www.ps3xploit.net > Domain no Longer owned by team** (NEW URL = http://ps3toolset.com) > Domain no Longer owned by team** (NEW URL = http://ps3toolset.com hosting & the PS3 Toolset project.

Just sent a small donation to the team@ ** ** www.ps3xploit.net > Domain no Longer owned by team** (NEW URL = http://ps3toolset.com) > Domain no Longer owned by team** (NEW URL = http://ps3toolset.com address :encouragement:

Just thank you so much buguerville and ps3xploit team what you guys have done is unbelievable. Have made a 15NZD donation to nopsn. Sorry I'm broke as atm. Will make a payment team@** ** www.ps3xploit.net > Domain no Longer owned by team** (NEW URL = http://ps3toolset.com) > Domain no Longer owned by team** (NEW URL = http://ps3toolset.com aswell next payday. So excited to jailbreak my console for the first time when the update is done! :D

@zecoxao
@bucanero

Thank you on behalf of everyone else.
A shame that only other devs seem to care, donating here there & everywhere while regular users don't give a damn, nothing new under the sun though...

Do you guys know that ever since those pointless ddos attacks, Jason is forking out extra for firewall services to keep PS3HEN running on **ps3xploit.com >Domain no Longer owned by team** (ps3xploit.me =new)?
At 20 bucks a month it must work out at 3 times more money than his hosting bill itself which was already hard enough to fund as it was..
I am honestly getting annoyed with all this bs, worse yet I totally resent having to write this & feel like a sanctimonious fool.
It's disappointing & as far as I am concerned, it's demotivating to the hilt.
That may also explain why I haven't coded a bloody thing ps3 related in months.
And it is not just us, others including this forum suffer from the same lack of support from users.
It's pathetic really..

:D don't mention it! :)

yes, it's sad and it's not new... :( I can imagine that if users donated just $1 for each jailbroken ps3, then paying the bills would be no trouble at all.
But we know that most users seem to imply that all our dev work is "super easy" and there's no actual work behind it... you can usually see that users show up to complain that something doesn't work, but hardly show up to say "thank you <dev>! this tool has been really useful"

oh I had no idea about Jason spending more money on HEN hosting due to the attacks!. what a shame... I agree it is demotivating.
on my side, I only keep doing some PS-related stuff as a "personal therapy". (for example last year I was unemployed for a few months, and now I'm also looking for a new job, so doing some small coding helps me keep a clear head)

kudos to @esc0rtd3w and @bguerville for keeping these jailbreaking tools available to everyone!!

I know how you feel... I have thought the same countless times.
You just should do what you do because you enjoy it and get a satisfaction. That's your motivation.
If it also benefit a community, that's only a plus that sum to the joy..
Never expect from others what they didn't promise to give.

Unfortunately a community like this -with some exceptions- is to get free games = "get without give".

The motivation must be the goals that you can achieve; with or without help from others -in this project or any other that you choose.

Sorry for not donating! I'm currently a student in a foreign university and, for several reasons, I am not allowed to work over here (with some exceptions, but I won't get into that). Anyway, I've made a pledge that as soon as I get my first paycheck, I'll donate to all developers in the scene that helped me in some way (the list is too long, honestly; I'll also be donating to other FOSS projects outside PS3, so it'll probably take me a while to get to everyone). But in the meantime, huge thanks to all developers !!

The points you are making do not make me feel better about the situation, quite the opposite..
How can you build anything worthy & lasting without a minimum of expectations?

But you are right, even though my expectations were originally extremely low, I had thought users would not bite the hand that fed them, I was wrong, they would & they do as a matter of course.
My mistake, sorry for being that naive, I shall expect sweet f#ck all, zip, nada, nowt from this community from now on, that is an important point clarified. Of course that is a 2 way street, the community shall not expect anything at all from me, no maintenance, no support, no help, no updates etc..

And then naturally comes another point for me to ponder, as I have been getting too little or no enjoyment/satisfaction whatsoever with this scene/community for a very long time, I guess maybe time has come for me to reconsider my participation altogether.

i agree with @aldostools that you should enjoy it and that should be your motivation. Thats how such great things are even conceived and built. I also agree with you that it can be demotivating thinking nobody cares, understands, or can be bothered to think about donations and support. In all honesty, if it wasnt for the web costs between domain, hosting, and security, getting not many donations does not personally bother me. It does get frustrating when those things are accounted for because it affects our real everyday lives, sometimes not for the better :beaten:

in conclusion, you do great work, and are a great friend! You already know how i feel about that whole thing lol

Great things might be built upon good will alone BUT for an engine to keep running, gas needs to be added, gears need oiled & changed, how can anyone expect others to take care of all investments for them ad vitam æternam? A community of leeches..

And I am not talking about extra money here, domain, hosting & security is the only thing I have been talking about, that is the core of the issue, never mind extra to invest on improvements & new projects...

Tbh I don't care to develop further on this topic, I already said what I had to say.
No more expectations from me, no more criticisms either, if users wish the Toolset project to live on, they can pay for the upkeep, otherwise it will be shut down & further development will remain private.
End of story.
