Hello everyone, i'm about to repair my PS3 by soldering the tantalum capacitors alongside the NEC/Tokins, my only question is how am i suppose to "scratch" the board in order to solder them, am i suppose to scratch the actual positive rail on the nec so it comes to contact with the scratched copper part? that would be a big help thank you

Hello there, my honourable friend.

You can use a fiberglass pen or even just the staple remover on the end of a stapler. Just something that's sharp enough to remove that top layer!

You scratch the actual positive rail connected to the corresponding Tokin. Make sure you don't mess up the actual connection on the Tokin.

I'm happy you decided to do the piggyback method!

The piggyback method is very common in my country, the tantalum capacitors were used to revive PS3s around here since at least 2016
