PS3HEN PS3HEN - Official Release Thread (Homebrew Enabler for the PS3) v3.5.0 (4.93 support)

hello!
at the begining i could play games in "GAMES" folder
i dont know if its vesion 2 problem or just something happened after first lunch.
but i only get black screen when lunching games now
anyone know something about this? i need help
thanks

I managed to install the offline version, but, why all PSN related icons turned red?
It's normal, don't worry.
I dont' wanna lie but I think that's because the offline HEN Enabler takes some thingies from Rebug, which has basically the same red icons. I'm not really sure though.

support of psx iso was eliminated in hen2 ??? Try loading a psx game in multiman and it does not work, in hen1 it worked fine.
PS1 games still working in HEN v2. Use bin/cue format. I'm launching PSX games from an external hdd with no problems using ManaGunZ.

Idk if I'm being paranoid, but I've noticed that the fans are running full throttle all the time.
I barely heard the fanf before.
Could HEN have anything to do with this?

And this is good?
I mean, fans at 100% all the time won't wear faster than needed?
Don't think it's a HEN thing, more like a webMAN MOD thing. You can easily set the fan speed with it. Got mine set at 35%, can hear them work for sure but it's not bad.

your console is probably running hot, you can check the temperatures while the fan speed set to syscon, if you get 70+celcius on both rsx and cpu, then its normal for the fan to spin-up fast, I think the fan start to spin up around 65c at 40%(?) with +2% on every celcius it increase.

to be honest, im more worried about the chip getting fried rather than the fan that you can easily fix by just oiling it or replacing it with a working one, I bet you can find a fan replacement easily given how fragile the ps3 when it comes to overheating.

I have a very early slim ps3 2000 with only the rsx tha tis 60nm while the cell is still in 45nm, set fan speed to 60% all the time to maintain <60c temperature. for 6years with that fan set to that speed it still working fine.

I see, so the reason why the fan is at 100% is more to avoid a possible overheating by some unknown homebrew than to lose the CPU because the fan didn't detected it needed to spin up.

I didnt had webman installed so the fan control was not my issue. For testing i did it again from scratch (deleting HEN folder and reinstalling HFW and HAN) installing firstly AIO v1 offline HDD installer and then trying to update HEN with the HEN v2 offline HDD and got the same issue but this time i found that the culprit in my case was the CFW folder because deleting only HEN folder didnt let HEN v2 to install. Its weird that lot of users are lucky with this and dont have this problem. Mysteries of the technology.

Also theres some method or setting for not letting ManaGunz mess with PS2emu files located in /dev_blind if you launch a PS2 game? A user shared a method for fixing the files that is to copy the files from /dev_hdd0/plugins/CFW/PS2emu to /dev_blind/PS2emu but is not very friendly for everyone and can cause lot of damage in noob hands.
I have that problem, black screen ad shut down on ps2 classics. But I dont have the CFW folder, the plugins folder is empty and I dont know how to repair it.
Is there another form to get those files to replace?

Here's a little update.

@aldostools implemented auto-refresh on start-up so that way both webMAN Games and Hybrid Firmware Settings under Network Category would remain hidden by default which avoids unnecessary crash from loading both HEN plugins without HEN enabled.

Unofficial PS3HEN 2.0.1 Beta Change note (based on aldo's fork) :

Code:
1. mappath is used for enabling xai_plugin so it wouldn't appear on fresh boot.
2. Remote Play with PC restriction removed
3. @DeViL303's extended download_plugin support added
4. Hybrid Firmware Tools (equivalent to CFW settings with less features)
5. Both Stock and REBUG edition (theme) available.
6. webMAN MOD 1.47.20 beta integrated (auto-refresh Game and Network Categories)

Why doesn't HEN work on OFW 4.82? Would it be too difficult to make it compatible with the OFW 4.82? I mean, as far as I know the OFW 4.82 and HFW 4.84.2 are basically the same, isn't it? I'd really appreciate it if possible, cuz unfortunately I haven't been able to use HEN cuz I can't update my PS3 due to a broken wifi/Bluetooth module. I'm sure like me, there are many others with this issue and , again, if making HEN compatible with OFW 4.82 is easy as i think for being so similar with the HFW, it would be awesome if some developer could make it happen... If not, well then thanks anyway. HAN is good too.

You can update over USB too.

When a PS3 game boots there are 3 types of external files that could make it crash

The savegames
All (or most) games generates a savegame automatically the first time you boot the game, this savegame is intended to store the game settings. Additionally some games creates another savegame automatically for the user progress
Well... if the game was mounted with incorrect settings or have some damaged/invalid files te game crashes at that first boot, and sometimes the savegames gets corrupted
So... the next time you try to boot the game (with same settings or different) it loads the corrupted savegames and crashes

The gamedata installation
This installation happens also the first time you boot the game, sometimes the installed gamedata gets corrupted too, is not usual to happen but it could become corrupt too
*The game updates are installed "on top" of the gamedata installation, so messing around with game updates (as example installing them in a incorrect order) could damage the gamedata

The trophy installation
This is also generated the first time the game boots (and loaded everytime the game boots), is very rare but sometimes this trophy installation could become corrupt too

------------------------
So incase of weird problems (like the ones you are having) you should try to delete all this files to allow to the game to make a "fresh boot" (without loading external files)
In that "fresh boot" the game should create all this i mentioned (savedatas, gamedata, trophy)

------------------------
If the game refuses to boot after you check all i said... you should start thinking if the game files are damaged/corrupted/modifyed/fixed
Nowadays you dont need to modify any game files, is better to keep the original game files
If you want to check if your files are identical to the files inside the real bluray disc you can perform a hash check by using the IRD file of the game, you can download IRD files here:
http://jonnysp.bplaced.net/

Search for your game using the TITLE_ID (as example BLUS12345), download the IRD for it and use one of the tools that supports IRD to check your files

*Managunz support IRD files and can do this check (but is better to make the IRD checks in PC because the processor of a PC uses to be faster than the processor of a PS3)
Okay man thanks will look into it
