PS3HEN PS3HEN - Official Release Thread (Homebrew Enabler for the PS3) v3.5.0 (4.93 support)

Well, I would guess that formatting HDD was very drastic and probably not needed.

When you say hen hung up, are you referring to the plugin issue with boot plugins text?

Either way, reinstalling hen is simple and you would have already had data loss by formatting hard drive.
I had to format hdd, because i had to switch off ps3 with power button after hen froze. PS3 stuck in a loop of checking file system reboot checking file system aso. No plugin was installed. Hen only froze on startup.
Like i said i do not complain.

You could have tried reinstalling firmware only. Being able to preserve hen after a formatted hard drive is something we went back and forth on, and decided it wasn't critical. I doubt this will change, unless we can't get proper xmb refresh working.

Edit: Its tricky. I definitely see both sides of it. I guess most people would end up reinstalling firmware anyways. Maybe in a future update, it will change and we can have the best of both worlds.

Edit2: I think a solution that would be reasonable is having an option that let's hen replace these missing HDD files, through some kind of emergency/recover menu item that would be available even after HDD format. This would create another xmb item somewhere though that would basically be a hen enable xml sitting on flash, that wouldn't be used under normal circumstances.

This option was actually tested a bit during the 3.2.0 beta phase.

Reinstalling firmware did not help.
I think a rescue solution would be very good. Is it not possible to use an usb stick with an external.xml file with the javascript code? An external.xml file on an usb stick is visible as a xmb item.

How did reinstalling firmware not help?

Yes we do have an external.XML entry already in place that maybe could be used for this purpose actually.

Edit: If you mean reinstalling firmware did not help, do you mean the hen enable is still missing? If so, its because reinstalling firmware erases Flash, so all files and hen would need reinstalled anyways and would be wiped

Reinstalling firmware did not solve the file system check loop.
"The system was not shut down properly, the file system may be corrupted, etc" after checking and a reboot the message appeared again. Only formating the hdd helped. Maybe the cache partition was damaged.

That message is bypassable with circle button. There are less destructive options also like rebuild database, etc

3.2.1 has been rolled out and systems with auto-update enabled, should get the new pkg automatically. I will update OP and website soon.

I had to register and to mention something here very important of all things!!

About 2 months maybe i had Hen on super slim the newest super slim version installed, I think it eas 4.86 or something like that, But what was the best and important thing is that when i started hen! It worked every time, The Hen website was down. But hen started and it worked! Never any problems. and now i upgraded to 4.90.1 This hfw firmware to superslim and hen is installed 3.2.1 the newest one!

And yeah now it is not working the hen i press to start it and it dosen't start it's waiting like there is no internet connection or something like that.

Can't we just make hen to start without internet?
And why is it every day or in 2, 3 days it just dosen',t open i need to restart my ps3 super slim so i try to enable and start again hen but it is not working. Is there any Hen problems there? Im stuck with my Ps3 cds.

I don't really play games it is for my son he plays that stupid Goat simulator game and he dosen't give peace until he can play it.

Hello people!

I have 2 doubts:

1 ) I want to install HEN 3.2.1 but keeping HFW 4.89 already installed. My HFW has the old HEN 3.1.1. Then all I have to do is download HEN 3.2.1 Signed PKG relative to HFW 4.89 at ps3xploit website and install it, or I need go to HEN Auto Installer "orange page" to proceed with the installation?

2 ) Curiosity: In HEN 3.2.1, after use of PSX and PS2 games, the Enable HEN Icon returns after it's hidden? (AFAIK, HEN is deactivated after exiting from PSX/PS2 games)

Thanks for the attention!

OP and website have been updated for 3.2.1

@esc0rtd3w I've noticed that the PSP launcher blacklisting -when an UMD is not mounted- was not properly implemented.

Please use this fixed version of mappath.c

I also commented out some unused functions, changed some global variables to static and minor code formatting.

Additionally I removed is_psp_launcher variable. It was creating an unnecessary the RAP for the PSP launcher

1. Yes, you can just download and install the pkg and hen will be updated. You can also use the HFW Tools update menu. If you use the HTML installer page, it will just enable HEN, not install it , because you have it installed and the trigger file is present (/dev_flash/vsh/resource/explore/icon/hen_enable.png)

2. The default behavior for HEN Enable egg icon is to disappear after XMB is refreshed, ie. opening and closing any app, remote play, etc.

EDIT: About the PSX/PS2 thing, i misread at first what you said. You are saying the HEN icon is back after exiting those? I forgot about the Ps2 games reloading lv2, but i didnt think psx games also did that.

Once HEN is installed, it does not require an internet connection. Launching from the egg icon on XMB can be done completely offline.

Not sure why every couple days you have problems.

if i may,i have discovered over time that HEN can take exception to malfunctioning USB devices resulting in the symptons you describe.
i've had HDDs,memory sticks and even a faulty charging joypad cause this problem.just something to check.
