PS3HEN PS3HEN - Official Release Thread (Homebrew Enabler for the PS3) v3.5.0 (4.93 support)

So I have HEN 3.2.1 installed now, but how do I bypass the "system update required" needed to access and use my online files? If it helps, more specifically on NCAA Football 14 Dynasty mode

@esc0rtd3w as some people are reporting more controller/usb related problems with controllers, i should mention something i noticed. i use an official remote control and i must push another button (any of them) a few seconds after pressing x or enter on the enable hen icon or else it will just there. not really a problem but a lil bit annoying.

1. Yes, you can just download and install the pkg and hen will be updated. You can also use the HFW Tools update menu. If you use the HTML installer page, it will just enable HEN, not install it , because you have it installed and the trigger file is present (/dev_flash/vsh/resource/explore/icon/hen_enable.png)

2. The default behavior for HEN Enable egg icon is to disappear after XMB is refreshed, ie. opening and closing any app, remote play, etc.

EDIT: About the PSX/PS2 thing, i misread at first what you said. You are saying the HEN icon is back after exiting those? I forgot about the Ps2 games reloading lv2, but i didnt think psx games also did that.

Thanks for the reply @esc0rtd3w !

About question 2, it's about HEN enable icon returns after exiting PSX or PS2 games.

HEN is deactivated after using this games, ok?
With no icon, the only way is soft rebooting the PS3, ok?

Or the icon returns after the payload notice when HEN is no more active?

I can test it if you want. But I don't know is secure install HEN 3.1.1 rollbacking over HEN 3.2.1, in case of problem.

Thanks again.

Could you please leave these online permanently ? Not all people want to install 4.90 , they are perfectly fine with 4.88 / 4.89 .
The advantage of 3.1.1 : it can resist a HDD format making it more permanent .

This will have to be tested. I didnt think about the ps2 lv2 issue before. Thats about the only case where the icon disappearing is a problem. Maybe a change will have to be made.

having read some of the above comments i was a little confused but i've not booted anything but Shadow Hearts(PS2)
since updating to HEN3.2.1 and didn't notice anything different,so i booted and refreshed other stuff to check.
the icon disappears after boot/refresh on everything except PS2 games(installs-i'm using a superslim) which is the only one which "disables" HEN on refresh.
in other words, the egg is always there if HEN is not enabled.
being a webman user, its easy to tell if HEN is enabled or not but even without that i dont see a problem here.

Hi Don Flo!

I don't know I can help you, but let's try.

Are you installed WMM (WebMan Mod) an put the file ps3-updatelist.txt in the root of /dev_hdd0?
This file deceives the PS3 system telling it's already in the latest version.

I hope i helped you.

Cheers!

Is MMCM (multiman) the right thing to have installed? Also, where do I locate the file ps3-updatelist.txt

If you plan to play online, you must update to the firmware 4.90.

You can bypass the firmware version check using webMAN MOD and copying this ps3-updatelist.txt to the root of /dev_hdd0

However, there is not confirmation that using the method is completely safe. Therefore the safest way to go online is updating to the latest firmware.

To play your games you can use any backup manager of your preference: webMAN MOD, multiMAN, IRISMAN, ManaGunZ or PSN games (they don't need any additional tool).

Yup @aldostools !

I use only for redeem/rescue my buyed games in PSN.
I use so much few times (the last time was more than a year ago) and only in this moment.
Once download is started, I disconnect to PSN.

But even with this behavior, exists a little risk Don Flo. And I know this.

To use PSN so much often and for prolonged time, with no doubt I recommend to update the system.
If you using HEN and this game is legal, play it online with HEN deactivated.

@esc0rtd3w and @bazzarre

I installed HEN 3.2.1 by PKG over HEN 3.1.1 in my HFW 4.89 and everything works fine.

The HEN's behavior is exactly the same @bazzarre related in every point.

Thank you!
What behavior are you referring to? Because the disappearing hen icon is normal. The PS2 issue will still need to be addressed.

The clean cache option that you are referring to, this will have to be looked into because it worked when tested.

When you said you are reinstalling HFW and HEN, why did you first install 3.11 again, instead of just installing 3.2.1? Although there shouldn't be any issue with updating from 3.11 to 3.2.1, if you wanted a more accurate scenario, I think a clean instance of HFW and 3.2.1 HEN would be more ideal to figure out what the problem is.

Its strange that you are getting stuck in the web browser, before HEN even loads.

Have you tried to use a different user account? Just to see if you have some leftover stuff that maybe causing browser issues?

I'm just trying to figure out what the problem is and when we tested before release, everything worked fine on all firmware versions that were tested, using a clean install of firmware and using the auto installer HTML.

Hi @esc0rtd3w

The HEN icon appering/disappearing is case closed. Worked fine when my HEN was working.

My problem now is other thing.
HEN loops in browser when activating
It's occurred when I exited PS2 game and returned to XMB to reactivate HEN with options of clear cache/history/cookies enabled (new features in HEN 3.2.1)

It's was the 1st time this problem occured.
After that, HEN doesn't loads anymore even restarting or powering off/on the console.

I tried to reinstall via HTML with a clean 4.89 HFW and the exploit fails. Even the alternate exploit fails.

Only exploit worked is lmn7's autohen-offline (a white page which installs a simple HEN and a package of full version of HEN) But I have this files only for HEN 3.1.1 under HFW 4.89

This page was the official exploiter in the time ps3xploit website was offline.

I think my PS3 still have the configuration in some place of HEN folder. I believe cleaning them HEN 3.2.1 returns to working fine.

I believe HEN 3.1.1 is working fine, because it isn't recognize the new options in HEN 3.2.1 avoiding this problem in my console.

It's possible to manipulate the HEN options via text files? If yes, i can revert the options before update to HEN 3.2.1. And where are these files? Can I remove them or leaving them blank?

I hope I should explained fine.

Thank you!

can you try this again, but set the auto installer to home page?

Ok, this we need to fix. I will see what we can do about this.

I suppose that is possible, but every file should have been overwritten, so i am less likely to think there is a problem there. But, i will see about getting the "Uninstall HEN" HFW Tools option finished for next release, since most of the code is already in place, just needs uncommented and tested and/or tweaked.

Could you test something? I have attached "PS3HEN_TEST_CEX_489_DEBUG.zip".
Can you unzip this file and use the html from local or hosted server? Run this 4.89 payload and hold L2 while booting (will require a sony controller). This will disable mappath remapping, so you can then delete the /dev_hdd0/hen/ folder via FTP. Then fresh install HFW and use normal hen installer for 3.2.1 and see if it works
