PS3HEN PS3HEN - Official Release Thread (Homebrew Enabler for the PS3) v3.5.0 (4.93 support)

can you try this again, but set the auto installer to home page?

Ok, this we need to fix. I will see what we can do about this.
I suppose that is possible, but every file should have been overwritten, so i am less likely to think there is a problem there. But, i will see about getting the "Uninstall HEN" HFW Tools option finished for next release, since most of the code is already in place, just needs uncommented and tested and/or tweaked.
Could you test something? I have attached "PS3HEN_TEST_CEX_489_DEBUG.zip".
Can you unzip this file and use the html from local or hosted server? Run this 4.89 payload and hold L2 while booting (will require a sony controller). This will disable mappath remapping, so you can then delete the /dev_hdd0/hen/ folder via FTP. Then fresh install HFW and use normal hen installer for 3.2.1 and see if it works

Thanks :)

I have HEN 3.1.1 working fine.

Can I do this way:
1 ) Enable HEN 3.1.1
2 ) Enable FTP
3 ) Remove /dev_hdd0/hen folder via FTP
4 ) Install fresh HFW 4.89 and rebooting
5 ) Install HEN 3.2.1 via HTML HEN Autoinstaller page

It's works too @esc0rtd3w ?

Ah! I located the files of clean cache/cookies/history in /dev_hdd0/hen/toggles and removed them. It was files with ".on" extension. But I didn't nothing more, justing to talk with you about this before.

Correct me if I'm (very) wrong, but HEN 3.1.1 had empty /dev_hdd0/hen directory, isn't it?

I don't remember if the hen folder was completely empty on 3.1.1. I'd have to check pkg again. We moved the icons from flash to hdd0 at some point.

Edit: yeah the cache toggles are empty .on files

Yes, you can test it that way

Hi @esc0rtd3w !

Everything works fine!

I removed all the hen files in /dev_hdd0/hen and reinstalled HEN from Auto Installer orange page with on a clean HFW 4.89.
But I needed to reinstall WMM again. Maybe because some lost reference in XMB in middle of the process.

The best choice I've made was to keep HFW 4.89, I've the HEN 3.1.1 for emergencies. :friendly wink:
(HEN 3.1.1 = HEN Secure mode) at least for me. hahaha

Thanks for the directions.
And I will keep you informed for news, but I hope not.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I imagined in corruption of some files relative to the browser, keeping the HEN to manipulate them after that causing the loop before HEN starts. And only with the clean HEN options and a fresh HFW reinstalled (with browser restored too) the problem would be solved.

PS: I considering the automated cleaning cache/history/cookies running before HEN activation in the Gray Circle HEN page.

If you plan to play online, you must update to the firmware 4.90.

You can bypass the firmware version check using webMAN MOD and copying this ps3-updatelist.txt to the root of /dev_hdd0

However, there is not confirmation that using the method is completely safe. Therefore the safest way to go online is updating to the latest firmware.

To play your games you can use any backup manager of your preference: webMAN MOD, multiMAN, IRISMAN, ManaGunZ or PSN games (they don't need any additional tool).

Everytime I go to "system update" to 4.90 firmware, I get a message saying "Please stay on this version, for all future updates visit **ps3xploit.com >Domain no Longer owned by team** (ps3xploit.me =new)". How do I get around that automated message?

Also, how do I install WebMAN on my system?

I have a little gift for the team in thanks for help me.
I hope this can help everyone.

I used to revert my PS3 to HEN 3.1.1 in the middle of my problem to make the repairs, and then update to HEN.3.2.1 via PS3Xploit HTML Orange Page after.

I made a container in docker, which pull a HTTPD/Apache image to instances a local Apache Web server containing all the files needed for any web services.

I put for example a AutoHEN 3.1.1 with fake files P3T e PKG to shrink the ZIP file. But it's possible to put any type of service in "www" folder.

The user must have docker and docker-compose executable file.
* Docker-Compose install reference: https://docs.docker.com/compose/install/other/

The user only needs to run the "docker-compose up -d" command to everything works.

The container runs in port 8888 to avoid conflict with other web servers, in case user have other servers running.

In PS3 browser, the URL should be "192.168.X.Y:8888" with navigation using the native "Index Of" Apache pages.

I ran in Linux, but I believe it works in Windows too.

Thanks again for the team and I hope to help more people with my/our solution.

It's everything fine.

It's a block from HFW to prevents you to update your PS3 system to the latest OFW.

If you want to update to HFW 4.90, you have to download the PUP file relative to HFW 4.90 and put in your pendrive inside PS3/UPDATE folder. The link is in this website in other forum made by Joonie.

To WebMan Mod, exists a all-in-one guide in this website too.

I don't have the links now, but you can search in this website or wait for another member to give these links for you.

I hope I would help you.

Cheers

As said by @Maverick_Chic that is to prevent accidental updates to OFW. Thanks for posting about it though cause we have to update the domain name from .com to .me in that RCO.

I still think its strange that some leftover hen files were causing these problems, but it obviously helped in your situation. The Uninstall HEN option will be available next release in HFW Tools.

The clearing cache, cookies, etc from web browser is a bit tricky because the exploit has to be executed from webkit before we could actually erase them. I haven't had these issues, so its a bit hard to see what's actually happening.

Thanks for the help by the way.

I'm still struggling to update as when I put my system in safe mode, it doesn't identify the data on my flashdrive.

I've been trying to do it using the "HFW_4.90.1_PS3UPDAT_03_01_2023.zip" file. Is that correct?

unzip the zip file on your pc.inside are 2 folders and a text file.drag the folder "PS3" onto a FAT32 formatted memory stick and insert into a USB slot on your PS3.boot into safe mode and follow the instructions to update by usb.

by the way,esc0rtd3w,earlier you mentioned addressing the PS2 issue, not sure what that is as i'm not having any issues here,
but since i'm hammering a PS2 trilogy at the moment i'm up for some testing.

Its more of an issue with what happens when launching PS2 games, as related to the Hen Enable icon not being available after returning to xmb, and lv2 being reloaded and hen patches being removed.

The simple solution is just not hide the hen enable icon, but there may be other ways to handle it, that we can test.

well i'm frequently having to take breaks as i'm down to one joypad at the moment(boo!) so i'm coming out of my game while i recharge then re-enabling hen without shutting down.the icon is always there so far.if i can get it to misbehave i'll let u know.

Hmm. So you can launch a ps2 game and then exit back to xmb, and the enable hen icon is there still? I mean, that kinda makes sense since the mappings would be not remapped anymore.

I've seen posts where others are saying the icon is still missing.

I haven't actually tried this yet, but now I'm curious to test it.

i've just gone enable HEN - start game(install) - load save-quit game - enable HEN - start game-load save.
Shadow Hearts 2 disc 1(SLES-82030) install made with ps2classics_GUI_2.2.3,config added during .pkg creation.

Hi Bazzarre!

My problem wasn't Enable HEN's Icon.

It was after reactivating HEN after quitting a PS2 game.

The HEN's Grey Circle page running on and on and didn't do nothing.

The problem persisted after reboot. And I resolved cleaning all HEN configurations in dev_hdd0

@esc0rtd3w I supose it's maybe collateral effect the LV2 modification made by Sony between FW 4.89 and FW 4.90.

I was using HFW 4.89 and bazzarre 4.90, isn't it?

I was confused as I thought the icon was not available. I can try testing on 4.89 and 4.90 this weekend.
