PS VITA / PsTV PSVITA/TV - Update 3.72 - "H-Encore² Compatible"

Just hours after, TheFl0w released his newest H-Encore² Exploit Chain for the PlayStation Vita and PlayStation TV, Compatible with firmwares 3.65 ~ 3.71, Sony retaliated with a new sneaky update - 3.72 today.

This update is not mentioned at the Sony Entertaniment Interactive Website, as of now is still 3.71, although upon downloading the update the MD5 may not match to 3.71 but to 3.72, Sony is known for these sneeky updates, only users on the local hardware will be prompt to update to 3.72.

It seems that this update "3.72" as always is a (Improved System Stability), but thats just a fancy way of saying, the real aim is to patch the newest H-Encore² Exploit Chain, although we don´t know it yet, but the prediction is 99% for H-Encore² Exploit Chain Patching.

For whom is on 3.71 H-Encore² Exploit Chain, there is nothing to worry about PlayStation Store Access, spoofing the firmware to 9.99 or 3.72 will grant you PlayStation Store access and all online functionalities, without the need to update to 3.72, make sure you disable Automatic Updates to avoid updating and loose the ability for the Exploit.

Final verdict, Sony is really trying hard to stop the homebrew and exploit development on a machine that was long abandoned and forgotten by the manufacturer, and was due to the active community and fans alike of the PlayStation Vita/TV that these systems has been kept alive, but it seems Sony is trying to restrict the full potential, but of course that is a question for the masses, if is right or wrong.

Will we be seeing a newer exploit chain for the 3.72, only time will tell, but for now these updates are like Star Wars movies, just to milk the device that has been forgotten, but will Sony Strike Back?

I'm really not sure if this is a Hencore2 patch. I doubt Sony could patch the exploit and also test a new PUP properly in the time they had available. They have to do some quality control surely, and the exploit is out for less than 24 hours?

Also afaik 3.71 had patched all points of the previous exploit chain according to the flow, So unless this timing just a coincidence, and they already had this update ready and in testing, Or maybe it just happens to block this new exploit through luck or design, but I think its unlikely.

True, 3.72 has been untested as far as the new Exploit chain goes, but just a precaution, dont update, unless a official word is spoken regarding compatibility, but ill have to agree, perhaps is just mere coincidence.

Yeah dont update.

To clarify, I doubt the 3.71 exploit will work as is on 3.72, It will probably need to be rewritten, But I also doubt its been properly patched or patched at all in the time they had available, its possible Sony made some general security changes that have affected it.

I was about to say that, official word from TheFl0w, the newest 3.72 Update patches and blacklists the newest H-Encore2 Exploit, so yes DO NOT update and stay on 3.72,but that was quick move regardless.

Just seen that, looks like they have patched it partially, I guess they must have had this update already done and tested, if not it was kind of risky to release an update to everyone with less than 24 hours testing.

True, but i am also worried for the future users, specialy that TheFl0w is not really back in the scene, and he released the 3.71 just as a weekend hobby, and for users that are on 3.71 the Exploit has a 25% success rate, Modoru doesn't work, and Adrenaline PSP freezes and restarts,so there is some work to do, but the main concern should be Modoru, as on 3.71 it softbricks the console, and ever since one of my siblings updated my PCH-2004 to 3.71 (Accidentally) i am patiently waiting for an Update for Modoru, but its up to him, but Sony is really being a c[emoji2398]ck with these Updates.

But we can't demand a new 3.72 Exploit, if TheFl0w doesn't want to do it, we should be thankful for the 3.71 already.

Looks like its just a coincidence, been in testing for 10 days or more. That's good anyway, probably just one part of the chain patched.

Well dang never known Sony to patch an exploit prior to release. Why they care about the Vita is beyond me.

Well the console still gets some indie titles, but the biggest release was Catherine - Full Body in Japanese Territories, but Japan usually are the most active PSVITA audience, so it would make sense to update they're machine to avoid piracy and title updates, but for us westerns it doesn't make any sense, since we don't get nothing here, but they're policy is, if Japan needs an Update, every territory must be eligible to update at the same time, even though there is no reason behind.

Bet they are kicking themselves that they did not patch the bittersmile exploit in 3.69, 3.70 or 3.71...

Perhaps, but TheFl0w already asked the community's help for a new Save Data Exploit, and the lads are devoted to find a new Entry Point, Chovy Sign PSP Backups will work on 3.72 confirmed and tested by Silica.

Update: Apparently a user by the name of NanospeedGamer, a Spanish YouTube did a worthy sacrifice, and donated his OLED Model to the 3.72,and he reinstalled and retested H-Encore2, and apparently 3.72 doesn't even patch anything, the Exploit Chain works just like 3.71.

Now Silica also tested it on a PSTV and gave him an error, so there are 2 things we can take from here, are just the 1000 Models have a flaw and left unpatched or you'll need to Reinstall and Resign H-Encore2.

For anyone curious:
