PS3 Revert Evilnat's 4.89 back to REBUG 4.84.2 D-REX

If my console is on 4.89 OFW and i want to downgrade but the qa flags are disabled, so can i use the older 999 downgrader method or do i have to wait for bg toolset being updated to support Fw 4.89

You have to wait for bgtoolset. You cannot downgrade from OFW.

I understand halfway but at other times no (I'm not a dev) and teaching me sometimes is contingent to asking a brick wall to move.

We have all been there at some point. It's all just a learning curve.

Joonie added an EID check to both the REX and D-REX REBUG pups to check which EID region is being used on the PS3 so you cannot accidently install CEX over DEX or vice versa and brick your system, which WILL happen. Which is why the D-REX PUP was greyed out when trying to install from EvilNat's CFW. QA make no difference in this case unless of course your downgrading your FW version at the same time, which you were, best practise is to enable it once and leave it.

As @STLcardsWS has explained REX and D-REX pups are exactly the same CFW with one small difference > REX installs as CEX [For installation on CECH Retail PS3's] by default and D-REX installs as DEX [For installation on DECH Debug PS3's] by default. The EID check is for this reason.

There is literally no need to install D-REX over a REX install, or vice versa, except for one reason > You changed the Target ID of the PS3 [EID] from CEX [EID5] to DEX [EID0] and then swapped / Formatted the HDD of a NOR PS3 without switching the Target ID back to CEX prior to doing so or again vice versa.

Downgrade is only for "CFW master race". ;} Downgraders are CFW, so You cannot install them over OFW past 3.55. Which makes them currently totally obsolete because with QA stuff we have official and proper way to do that.

Okay, so I'm making this short little thread to explain how you can downgrade back from Evilnat's 4.89 to REBUG D-REX 4.84.2 if you happen to be getting the "Data Corrupted" message via System Update

1. Download REBUG 4.84.1 REX from the link provided below.

2. Format a USB to FAT32 & make a "PS3" folder, then an "UPDATE" folder inside of "PS3" which is where the PUP will go.

Structure should be like so -> [F:]/PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP

3. On PS3, make sure your QA Flag is Enabled via REBUG Toolbox or "wherever"

4. Install the PUP to PS3 via System Update using the USB slot closest to power button

5. Once 4.84.1 REX is installed, open Rebug Toolbox, go to "Utilities" and "Dump eid root key"

6. After PS3 restarts, open the Toolbox again and "Rewrite Target ID in Flash"

7. Now your TID should be DEX & LV2 will still be CEX until you install 4.84.2 D-REX via System Update

And once 4.84.2 D-REX is installed, then you can use LV2 swaps to change between CEX/DEX modes.

Hello, I have tried to install the Rebug Toolbox 02.03.06 program, because I have my PS3 that is in version 4.89 CEX, I want to downgrade to a lower version, to be able to use some mods in some games that I use. Some problems have arisen, which I show you in this video, please help!!!
