PS3 Savegame not useable after hard disk change

Hi,

currently I have bought a ps3 (OFW) after my old model (CFW) stopped reading discs. So I startet playing a game on that "new" ps3. Because my old model was at high temps I just tried to delid my beloved ps3. But that piece of hardware is now garbage (scratched cpu board). So I stripped my 500GB drive from my old ps3, saved my savegame from the new ps3 on a stick and replaced the 80GB disk used in the new ps3 with my 500GB model. The system formated this 500GB drive because of CFW and I installed same OFW as before and all seems to be fine. After that I copied my old savegame back and startet to play that game. But that game loads that savedata readonly and states that those data came from a different user and can't be saved. Now I swapped the drives again without any install because the old drive was still married to that ps3 and now it works again.

In short I use the savedata with the same ps3 but changed hard drive.

Should I use Apollo Save Tool in order to use those savedata with the new drive?

Thanks.

with offline accounts, the savegames end up linked to the console and local user-id.
So when switching consoles you'll need to resign the save-games

You can use Apollo to resign only if you're running HEN or CFW. (you can't install homebrew on OFW)

I know but it's the same ps3 with a different user because of reformat. So userId was maybe incremented. CFW is not a problem. So Apollo will fix the issue. But that's creepy shit. Using a counter and bound that with savegames. What a mess.

if you activate and link your account, then the save-games will no longer be tied to the local user-id/console, and they'll just be linked to the online account id.
Anyways, just try with Apollo, open the savegame and just click on "Apply changes & resign" , without selecting any other option. That should be enough.

Ok. But it's still bad software design from Sony. An offline account and swapping hdd is a valid use case.
