PS3 Stuck on Evilnat 4.90 HFW

So I have a CECHL01 and it shipped with OFW 4.90. After performing a system update to the newest version (presumably 4.90.2), I began playing typical games.

Anyway, I have been researching modding for the PS3 and I downloaded Evilnat 4.90 HFW as instructed. I have a bin backup, and I used PyPS3 checker to make sure the ROS is correct (it is). With the backup seeming fine, I tried to install an easy to use Evilnat 4.90 PEX to have expirience in a modded PS3 before installing Rebug.

However, upon attempting to install Evilnat 4.90 PEX, it gave me an error code saying data is corrupted. I repeated this several times and had no progress. I even tried 4.90 OFW and that has the same result.

Everytime I try to do a system update, regaurdless of if it is CFW, HFW, and OFW, it gives me an error code at around 70 percent, usually 72-73 percent. I have no idea how to fix this problem as I have repeatedly formatted my USB drive and today I tried restore file system. Nothing has worked. What do I do?

What I meant in the first paragraph is that I sucsessfully installed and am running Evilnat 4.90 HFW.

You cannot install CFW past OFW 3.55 without first patching fw via web exploiting or via flash dump and hw flasher to write it back.

However, You must be able to install OFW/HFW 4.90 from recovery menu (from XMB probably it will not be possible). If You cannot do that, then You have some hw issue which You must resolve before fw patching.

I have tried installing via recovery menu, and I even tried just now, but I get another data is corrupted error. Specifically this error is 8002F2B5, which is different from the data corruption message when I try the XMB menu.

I have not thought about web patching, however I already have HFW installed. Would I have to try and patch it from the web and then try and install CFW?

evilnat is cfw, it is not hfw. hfw is ofw with a hackable web browser. you do not need hfw.

use my guide HERE to jailbreak with bgtoolset. then reboot and install evilnat 4.90 CEX. not pex, no oc, no nobt, no nobd. just CEX only!

Good News! I successfully jailbroke my system for the first time! I followed Mr. Mario's tutorial as he explained it quite well. I used ps3toolset to apply the flash, allowing me to load CFW. This was certainly a learning expirence for me.
