Have you tried on 4.90? If not, you can try updating to 4.90 and installing 3.2.0 HEN, or you can wait a day or 2 and we should be rolling out 3.2.1 for older firmwares as well.

I suppose we can test some of these. Is it all of them you tried or just certain ones? Which ps2 pkg specifically should I try?

I didn't upgrade to 4.90, I stayed at 4.89 to avoid future bugs. None of my ps2 games work (i tried in pkg and in BIN.ENC with ps2 classic launcher but they still don't work). However i had dragon ball Budokai Tenkaichi 3, gt4, def jam which worked perfectly.

In English via G-Trad :

A big hello to you all.

I write to you in French (it's my mother tongue), I'm almost 65 years old and I don't understand English but I know how to use the automatic translators available on the web.

I have a problem with the installer available on the NET. I explain my concern and my current PS3 configuration:
- The PS3 is a Slim SCPH-3004, it is under the HFW-4.88.1/HEN-3.1.1. WebMAN is in 1.47.44 (updated since last week).
I want this console to remain in HFW-4.88.1, I will not switch it to HFW-4.90. I know that the HEN is compatible now with the HFW-4.88.1 and it refuses to install via the NET. The Console Browser is properly installed and configured as required for this type of installation. I have to click on the "Initialize HEN Installer" button, which I do, then:
--> here is the message given by the installer:
Found extra_data at:0x80272224 I'll give you the rest of the numbers...
HEN Enabler initialization failed because the following exception was thrown during execution:
ReferenceError: Can't find variable: hen_installer_bytes at: undefined

All this to say that it cannot install. I press the "Round" key and it goes out to the XMB.

Is there a simple and local method (without the NET) to install this HEN-3.2.1 on my console (which is already under the HEN-3.1.1) ???
Why via the NET it does not install ???

I thank you in advance for all you do for all of us on this site, and for me in particular who am a bit old but not too outdated.

Merci par avance pour vos très bons conseils.

Me confirme-tu que c'est celui pour le HFW-4.88.1 car il n'est pas indiqué sur le nom de fichier pour quel système il est !!!

Can you confirm to me that it is the one for the HFW-4.88.1 because it is not indicated on the file name for which system it is !!!

ahhh, this was because of a caching issue on server. The hen_installer_bytes was added to HTML for the wMM fix and is_hen_installing flag. The JS was not being refreshed, so i just put the hard-coded value in HTML, but then just renamed the js file and ref link in HTML. There was a time period of about 20 minutes on and off that the error was happening, while i was uploading new files.

It should be fine now, and i did test it again last night

Vous deux @esc0rtd3w et @Coro êtes mes amis tout autant que @bguerville ...
Je vous remercie vivement pour vos excellents travaux qui aident bien toute la communauté PS3.
Merci, merci beaucoup.

Maintenant, l'erreur est éradiquée.

I have a question regarding the map_path function used in HEN3.21.
The file /dev_hdd0/hen/xml/hen_enable.xml is mapped to /dev_flash/hen/remap/xml/hen_enable.xml.
When I try to copy the hen_enable.xml file from hdd to a USB stick, I get an error message that the path can not be found.
So how can I back up the entire directory /dev_hdd0/hen including the hen_enable.xml.

If the hen_enable.xml file is mapped to /dev_flash/hen/remap/xml/, is it allowed to restore the file to /dev_hdd0/hen/xml?
This can happen, for example, if I install the latest_HEN_Installer_signed.pkg via the package manager.
Or is the file then wrongly written back to the mapped path on dev_flash?

Does the map_path function affect the internal backup and restore program of the PS3?

Edit: How can I delete hen_enable.xml from hdd? It´s read only because the file is mapped to dev_flash.

You are the first one to ask about that lol.

The reason you cannot replace that file is because the path is protected, as well as pkg manager and hfw settings XML.

This decision was made to make sure the files with protect flag couldn't be overwritten accidentally.

The only way these files can be overwritten is by using the traversal bug used in custom pkg.

You have basically 2 options.

1) create a custom package that overwrites these files.

2) use a homebrew or web exploit that uses the traversal bug in path.

Example: /dev_hdd0/theme/../../dev_hdd0/hen/xml/hen_enable.xml

I am going from memory, but that should be basically how its done.

We can do this using the xai plugin. Maybe we could add an option to overwrite these xml files from the Developer option in hfw tools, to make it easier for devs.

EDIT: Another thing we could do is check for dev mode and use map_path without the protect flag if dev mode is active. This would be simple enough, but would require the payload being updated for this.

If the path is protected, the ps3's internal backup and restore program will have trouble working with hen enabled. I haven't tried it yet, but it seems logical to me.

I made a backup of my system before installing HEN 3.2.1 and restored it after . But, after restoration the Enable HEN from the menu is gone and i can only Enable it through the browser . I remember this was not the case in 3.1.1

Idk, I would think any formatting would be fine, and once booted into recovery, file operations should work, but it would be worth testing.

We didn't even really think about the backup and restore option. I'll run this by @bguerville and see what he says.
