Are you getting a spinning loading icon in OPL? It took me several hours (overnight) for the game list to load the first time on an SSD. I also noticed OPL writes a games.bin file to the drive. I'm assuming there's some large amount of caching or something happening that is extremely slow.
Someone above mentioned formatting to GPT instead of MBR to alleviate slowness, but I don't believe that it makes a difference. I'm about an hour into waiting on the OPL screen for it to load after reformatting the drive to GPT from MBR. At least for the initial load it does not appear to make a difference.
I had several issues that I was able to fix.
I do not use ART right now, but in my testing, I find it way to slow to scroll the list.
- No 3.5in drive worked, not even spinning. 2.5in was fine. This was caused by a blown fuse on the 12v line going to the external adapter.
- My original SATA modded PS2 HDD/Network adapted did not work with larger drive (bigger that 2gb?). I used a third party one and it was working after that.
I do not use ART right now, but in my testing, I find it way to slow to scroll the list.
Hmm, my games seem to think there isn't a network adapter attached despite me running games off HDDs connected to a network adapter xD Is it related to me having recently updated to this beta?
Edit: Oh yeah! Time Crisis 2 & 3's iLink support is working great! I had to enable the mode setting 2 compatability option on both console to get them to work, though.

Are the games in DVD/CD folders in the root?

I am having a decent amount of issues, The biggest one is my CD games are not displaying. They are Bin/Cue in the /CD folder in the root and none of them appear in the game list.
Also most games have issues, idk MD5 or product codes atm but I can research them.

Final Fantasy 12: Skipping/Choppy sound in main FMV
Resident Evil - Code Veronica X: Freezes at the very end of the opening FMV
Anyone play these games without any issues above? They all work fine on my APA formatted 2TB and I have tried 2 different 4TB ExFat formatted drives with the same results, 1 WD and 1 SG.

For CD games. I made them ISO files with winbin2iso program I got here on psx place. and they show up in the list and play them
Did bin/cue work in this OPL?
Is Rumble of Roses NTSU? I play the Japanese one without problems

Retried RR US and it now works (Bought a new audio receiver and that must have been the issue) also converted MvC2 with that app and it doesn't appear on the game list.
Weird, I just converted some new CD games with it, some games of the budget SIMPLE series
This game 10th Anniversary Memorial Save Data (Disc 2) (Japan) (PlayStation Taiou) and it worked fine and I learned that if you put a PSX game on the CD folder it freezes OPL. The Disc 1 of this was a PSX game and I didn't notice until I checked Redump
Not sure if its specifically a problem with this new version of opl yet but, previously I had and older version with a 1tb wd blue HDD and I had it partially filled with about 600gb of games. I picked up a 4TB WD blue to test out this new OPL. After reading some of the posts here I was able to get the new drive to read some games I put on as a test. I went ahead and slapped all of my games on the new drive and now whenever I try to load the game list the loading icon pops up spins for a bit then freezes. Even if I clear both the CD and DVD folder and start from scratch it does the same thing. I even tried letting it sit overnight and nothing happened. I'm not sure what problem is or what I can test next, any help would be appreciated.

Try deleting the OPL configs from the memcard and restarting OPL. Back them up if you can 1st.
I went back to it and apparently my game didn't have a file extension at all. I reconverted the game (The app crashes if I change the target name in the save box, I have to edit the string in the main menu before clicking convert) placed it in the CD folder and it shows up and works!

Didn't work, now it freezes at the opl splash screen with the same loading icon, I think without the configs it just remade new ones and now its trying to do the game list creation thing from the beginning instead of me manually doing it after opl loads.

i had issue with winbin2iso, namely that i couldnt get the program to do anything other than launching, but reading online apparantly it only does one image at a time. so i found an alternate solution of using PowerISO and a .bat file. you will need to have a registered copy of poweriso, as the free version only works with images less than 300mb. that being said, launch notepad, and paste this script into notepad
then save as a .bat file in the same folder that has all of the .bin/.cue ps2 images. now navigate to that folder, launch the bat, and go watch some tv for a bit. lol
Nope I get no icon showing it's loading, whatsoever.
Not sure if the drive is spinning but the orange light does flash occasionally so I know it's being detected.
Is it spinning tho? I couldn't honestly tell you. But sure as well OPL ain't detecting it lol, this probably one of the most annoying things to set up, and I've worked on many many retro consoles… even setting up a 2tb Xbox HDD wasn't this bad.. I don't know what I am doing wrong or what is happening on my end, I've even tried formatting to MBR, and just trying to use 2tb of the 6tb and still doesn't work.
So I'm at a complete dead end at this point.

ok. so i finally was able to get everything finalized on my 8tb drive. loaded the entire US set on it (which unzipped was right under 5tb) with no compromises on the list. converted the bin/cue images to iso. i tested 2 of those, both worked fine. played a couple dvd images. also played fine.
i'm not using any artwork, because i'm too lazy to do all of that work. that being said, i'm using a brand new drive, not a used drive, so these images were installed to a fresh drive, and upon the first launch of the new system, it scanned the harddrive for about 8 minutes maybe? then we are up to the list. so i'm not sure why some of the users are saying they had to leave it on overnight to cache games, mine took less than 8 minutes for the entire US set.
so all in all, really enjoying this setup! thanks for this grimdoomer. seriously.

I was able to solve my problem, I downloaded some opl manager program. When I scanned my library it came up with a few "invalid" games. None of those games had game IDs associated with them. All those games worked previously, so If I had to guess maybe something went wrong when I transferred the games from my old HDD to my pc. Once I deleted them from the drive and OPL started working great.
Did you replace the invalid games with proper rips?
