PS2 [Testers Needed] OPL internal exfat 2TB+ HDD and multi-BDM devices

I assume full artwork is still supported but is there a place to copy the art directory on the hard drive? I assume the new version of opl does this?

After successfully getting the PS2 to read the SSD once yesterday, I have been unable to get it to read the SSD again.

It can load OPL and I see the device selection with the IDE selected, but it will not load a list of games.

I did not change anything between powering off the PS2 on the last successful attempt and the subsequent attempt where it failed to load. I disconnected the drive from the PS2 and it was readable on a PC.

Additionally, I try to save the settings of OPL in mc1, but it does not save the changes.

I'm running OPL from mc1.
You do have to start BDM every-time to see the hard drive when you first go in I use auto and turn on hdd. i set start hdd to off.

I have been reading through this thread and watched a couple videos so far on how to set this up. Am I correct when I say if you're using an HDD > 2tb (most likely any hdd > this size has 512e sectors), you basically HAVE to connect your SATA drive directly to your motherboard to properly format it for OPL to work?

As of right now, has anyone been able to use a SATA to USB dock/adapter for an hdd > 2tb and gotten it to work?
Yes my thermaltake docks work fine.

hello,
I've been testing this application since the day it was launched, and it's really refreshing as an experience and fluid too!
The 1.2.0.5 1991 version was really good, I transferred 600gb to it from my 2to seagate barracuda hdd 2.5 and everything is going well on it.

Since I took the last version to date 1.2.0.6 (1996) to see the improvements (especially the fact of quickly downloading the artworks). On freemcboot it remains on the OPL visual and the cycle runs endlessly, and on USB it starts but I don't see my games, are not accessible as before with this version.
Is there a problem with it 1.2.0.6 1996 ? (I tested the 3 classic, pademu, udma plus versions of which I don't see the udma 6 option?)
Do you have udm set to auto and unblock hard drive on? also turn off hdd start.

I have the same bug. I haven't played the game for more than an hour, so I thought skipping the intro solved the problem. I tried different combinations of modes 1-6 but for me also does not work. So there are two of us. I never finished Onimusha 2 so I hope for a fix.

Edit1. OK @dukejp . Try to use modes 1, 3 and 6. The game after the intro moved on to gameplay, but you have to wait 1 minute of black screen. Please check how the case looks like with the second video after the airship.
I just ended up using ESR and burning that title. shame it doesn't work well with OPL.

@dukejp send me his save file and for me Onimusha 2 SLUS_20393 also doesn't work. Game freeze in about 4/5 of a gameplay on airship crush cutscene ( , on scene in 5:12:52 of this walkthrough).

Screen is going white and another scene doesnt load. I upload dukejp's save file in raw ps2 folder and in .psu file. Maybe @grimdoomer will add some fix or maybe someone will find a solution to this.
I played from your save to next save point skipped robots but got past the cutscene where it goes white and doesn't come back using older official OPL.. Attached is the save in slot 3 used real memory card not virtual. https://www.mediafire.com/file/xejnrorid1gw12g/BASLUS-20393.zip/file

Also can confirm this is a new issue with this version of OPL my official OPL on my 1 GB hard drive plays the cutscene fine with no tweaks.

Easy workaround for this is to hit the Start button before the screen turns white from the cutscene it will just take you to the next one you do not miss much at all.

It was the first thing I tried: it doesn't work. The game does not allow you to skip that scene

Strange, i hit the start button after the shooting the ground scene and it skipped right to the hitting the castle scene. Using latest beta enhanced udma 5/6. But if this version is going to get no more development I will stick with the official version and just deal with using hdlloader batch gui. 2 tb is plenty to hold the good ps2 games.

Eu or USA I am using USA rip directly from my original? I do not have issues with skipping using the start just have to do it before the white screen comes up.

Hi,
I get to access the OPL menu, but games on the SSD don't show. Only those on the USB Key do, but they don't launch. Any idea what to do?
Thx

Did you follow the instructions and Do you have udm set to auto and unblock hard drive = on? also turn off hdd start.(not Auto)

So bottom line - everything works great when I select Mode 1. A global game settings option in a later build would be very welcome. - I would love to be able to set all games to default to Mode 1. Right now I just change it on every game I play, but it would be nice not to have to do this. Can't do it on OPL Manager either - only lets you do it one by one. (Could the requirement of Mode 1 be due to the enclosure/adapter used to format the drives?)

The artwork loads slow on both systems and on both hard drives. Some themes are better than others - the one I use now (PSE+ I think) at least lets you scroll while artwork loads so it's a lot more usable then the default OPL theme which freezes on each game until art is loaded.

I agree that a 'global' setting to apply "Mode 1" to every game would be welcome. Here's what I did in the meantime:

1- https://github.com/Tom-Bruise/PS2-OPL-CFG-Database/releases - Download 1.1.
2- Find all the CFGs you want to use in the zip and copy them to a test folder.
3- Open ALL said 'test' CFGs with Notepad++ (will probably freeze the computer, just leave it alone til they all open).
4- Search>Find...>Find what: "Compatibility">Find All in All Opened Documents.
5- Separate the CFGs it finds, these will be the ones we manually run through OPLM to apply 'mode 1' later because they already have a version of the lines we will be adding to the rest, had to do this manually.
6- File>Close all, then reopen JUST the ones that DO NOT have "Compatibility" in them.
7- Search>Replace>Find what: "(.*)">Replace with: "\1$Compatibility=1\nModes=1">then mark the "Regular expression" radio button and ". matches newline" checkbox at the bottom left>Replace All in All Opened Documents.
8- Now move both the 'edited' and search-separated CFGs to the *yourOPLdrive*:\CFG\ folder to use.
9- Open OPLM with it pointed to the same *yourOPLdrive*:\ and manually go through all the games that had CFGs with "Compatibility" ALREADY ("search-separated") in their CFGs and use the "Edit CFG" button of OPLM to ADD mode 1 and save each.
10- To double-check that all your CFGs have a "Compatibility" line in them now, just open them in NP++ again and search, making sure the numbers match.
*11- Open OPLM>Batch Actions>Upgrade old CFGs

I can't seem to find your "PSE+" theme though, artwork loading is PAINFUL (I have a near-exact setup as you). Could you be so kind as to provide me with a link, pretty please? *EDIT* think I found it but the only links are to PS2-Home.com and they haven't been working in ages.*EDIT* UGH, setup VPN to UK, open the theme's PS2-Home link in Edge, profit, what a PITA!

Also, for everyone (or until I can find an actual database to post our results of things), I cannot get NRA Gun Club USA to work as a ZSO. I'm sure there are less than 10 people in the galaxy that care, just sayin'...

Thank you for your reply. I thought I followed the instructions but apparently not. Would you be able to redirect me to the instructions? I dled the .elf files from github, put them on a FAT32 USB Key. I launched the OPNPS2LD.elf from the USB Key, and then happened what I described.
When you write "udm" you mean "bdm"? Because I don't see any "udm" on the setting screen. So I set the bdm on auto, and on the bdm options, I put the HDD on "ON", and then I put the HDD start to "OFF". But then, I'm stuck on the App folder. So I'm guessing I'm doing something wrong.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

HDM to auto unblock HDD to on. HDD autostart to off. Also put your opl elf on the memory card not the usb. usb is 1.1 too slow to run OPL. Also as talked about if you allocated your hard drive to exfat2 and used a external drive bay some do not set the cluster size correctly.

are you saying with this version putting accurate reads to on fixes the issues? I still have lockups with certain games such as Onimusha 2 as we talked about above. I have a official version of OPL with a 2 gig hd never had any issues with the same games and never had to turn 1 on for most.

Thank you. I was able to make it work through your help and some videos I found online.

You using the same region ie ntsc or pal as the game you are using? If not you have to turn on GSM for that game

Sorry for not answering quickly. I confirmed it, you can't skip that scene in the US version, at least with the latest version of opl (I'm forced to use Grindoomer because I use a 4TB disk). You can skip other scenes, like the introductory video which also freezes.

To be sure, I was at all times mashing Start, for example, the scene of the guy who escapes with some wings that happens a minute before, skips it without problems.
