PS2 The state of the PS2 hack scene is so sad

A bit a clickbait.

It's not sad in developpers side... no, this one is more impressive considering the age of the PS2.

Nah, it's more on the user side and creation of the tutorial through the web.

I feel like people who make tutorials, whether on YouTube, Reddit, social networks or other forums, DO NOT UNDERSTAND ANYTHING

And it POLLUTES Google when you have to search for something.
After years of not having touched the PS2. I just wanted to test POPS via USB key like when it was released.

IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND something clean and suitable on my side.
95% of the tutorials offering POPS integration via OPL.
Integration that cost the development of POPS by the way.

First, people NEED to STOP thinking the PS2 with HDD is the STANDARD (I've one, but HDD is just a big bonus)

Second, wtf is MXISO with SD Card? tf is FunTuna?
Every tutorial spoke this like you already know what is it...

So sad to see the scene community divided by 2, 4, 8 parts and they never spoken the same thing.
And helping people for how to hacking PS2, or booting something is now hard. Hard to guess how he hacking and with wich tool.

More recently, I'm see a tutorial in french for OPL.. The guys recommended the Jay-Jay OPL... JFC... WHY???

It's as annoying as the Wii/3DS/PS3 hack scene.
The PS2 one was so easy to understand before.

Really guys. I'm still thinking burning CD / DVD is more simple...
or privatize new advances in hacking.

POPStarter user guide:

Thank you, and sorry if I waste your time for me.

But this topic is more a rant than needed some link (still apreciated)

For example, If I search "Popstarter" on Google, PSX-place is very rarely displayed on the first page for me.

Very often these are Reddit links, Youtube links dating back 3, 4 or even 6 years and not up to date.
PS2-Home that I absolutely hate. "PC & tech websites that talk for no reason about hacking your PS2 and lacking a lot of information, explaining that you need a modified OPL or whatever for booting popstarter.
Everything packed with some illegal .zip which no one explain what the use of each file.
Sometimes Github, but still lacking clarification

And very rarely, there is a good clean tutorial for those who are starting out or just want to be "up to date"

Like some years ago, I discovery Mechpwned. But this is not here.. this is from a random replay Twitch streamer. How the hell I can missing something like this?

PSX-place, I know it covers several Sony consoles. But something is wrong with the interface to follow the news and advances in the hack scene.

Maybe a pinning problem in the forum. Old topics upped, not much promotion... I don't know...
Or I'm getting too "old" for this sh*t

I was a bit curious myself, it came up as the first result on the first page.

Yeah, hopped it displayed like this at my home too.
PSX-place appear at maybe 5th or 6th result (maybe bc I living in France? idk)

Maybe because I uses Reddit for something other than video game related?
And maybe my Google is totally biased with my history?

It wouldn't be a problem for me if it's not on PSX-Place which doesn't appear first.
But more on the fact that very often on other sites, it only talks about one subject, there are bad tutorials, or does not group enough hierarchically the "How to" or other "first step"...
Some make custom application packs with full of unnecessary junk and advertising.
And for some (rare but it exists), it's a scam (paying to have access to something).

And that's why I think it's totally sad. You lost time for searching simple stuff. Big website have taken over searches engine. And people are scattered everywhere. (I even through sometimes when I search PSX-places dispear)

In English via G-Trad.
@Squarealex: wouldn't you be my friend from a now defunct French site ???

If you want, we can resume our discussions in private because I have nothing more than what you just received. I'm still here (for my 66th birthday). I have many interfaces for my 39004 and 70004.
