Like so many I got the YLOD back in the late 00's from my old 60GB phat PS3. Sony swapped it out for a small fee and that one eventually got cooked too.
I've seen a couple of videos where people have cut giant holes in the back of it, installed new fans, stripped it down and sawn the processor apart to replace the thermal paste, all with (from the comments) mixed results from people who went to those lengths.
For people who still own a FAT PS3 are there any rules you strictly follow to keep the console from overheating that don't involve carving it up?
Like playtime limits, preferred console position, how much room you give the vent, rarely playing during warm seasons?
Alternatively is there anyone who swears by a specific console modification?
