I made a post on Reddit showing the issue with video (too large to post here):

I'll copy the description from the post:
<<The rollers seem to be high enough to block the game from being inserted.
Also, you can see that I have to manually open the "arms" to activate the rollers, as the disc can't go deep enough to do that; and when ejecting, the drive seems to leave it in a weird position.
After taking the cover off to show the second part I seem to have messed it up even more, as now the rollers seem to be even higher up so that I can't even insert the disc.
What is going on here?>>
Also, for the record, I can fool the drive to insert the disc manually when taking the cover off. That's what I'm doing for now until I find a fix.
