[TuT] Setting up PS2 PlaceHolder REBUG Edition (Controller Sync Fix for PS2 Games on nonBC Consoles

Yep now i checked this and really game was inside pkg (Oretachi Game Center Zoku: Contra). Habib if you want i can make for you fake iso (with files that are needed to fake PS2 classic conversion, because i see that you used one of aldo tools for get MC in package - not sure here, just speculating). Or you can always use some ps2 homebrew for that.

I've tried a few homebrew games and none work converted maybe we should try with a fake iso

Try this pkg, this is only for install memory cards. I don't have PS3 now for test. Old placeholder should be instaled before (doesnt matter rebug or standard).

Yea i made mention of it to him over at ps3hax.. I also suggested a homebrew game but for some reason PS2 Classic conversion and homebrew do not work so well. even the ones that work on ISO for cobra cfw (as bitsbubba is seeing). A fake ISO could work, but if it results in a freeze or unsable to exit the emulator without a console reboot would be the only worry there i would suppose. The controller sync during or right after the PlayStation 2 splash. (cant recall) so a fake iso may be the way to go. Create one and then it can be tested from there to see if it's a viable option.

I know that hb don't working well as classics but this is only for install memory cards to existing games. habib used game just for make simple pkg budled with 2 VME files. I did the same in my pkg but it didn't contain a game (with 0 byte fake iso, but if needed i can make more "advanced" fake iso). Try it if you can :)

Also old placeholder probably don't need to be instaled before instaling my pkg. I added this because i can't test it. :)

Is there an in depth tutorial or a video tutorial for a Newb? im not sure what it means by "Go to multiMAN normal mode and click on iso" I'm really needing some help here just trying to play ps2 backups on my rebug 4.65 and having a heck of a time

1. Install placeholder and activate the rap file for classic via reactPSN or PSNpatch
2. Copy your PS2 ISO backup to dev_hdd/PS2ISO folder
3. Go to multiman setting column and change mode from mmCm (or cobra, i dont' remember) to normal/multiman mode.
4. Go to games column in multiman and select your ps2 game, and follow tutorial from first post from point 3.

If you don't understand something, then ask. I help you if i can. :)

I really need help with this, even if i follow the steps to a tee i always keep getting a black screen instead of my ps2classic loading up.
Not sure what my setting should be but inside the rebug toolbox im running

system mode: rebug
xbm operation mode: debug
Debug menu type: CEX QA
toggle webman: enabled

everything in patches section is disabled

REBUG 4.65 might be your problem, update to 4.70.1 it has all the correct patches to properly play PS2 isos (except a couple new patches by Habib)

If you look on my other post about this problem, (PROBLEMS INSTALLING PS2CLASSICS LAUNCHER REBUG EDITION.) I've just posted in depth everything exactly what I'm doing

yes I know, I think I've seen every single one, maybe even answered them, I was on Habib Starbucks v1.03 but now installed REBUG 4.70.1 REX (are you REX or D-REX), I'm going to uninstall and deactivate PS2 ISO Launcher (placeholder) and start over so bear with me while I finish

Hi...im looking a possible solution to my problem.....i recently updated my old 3.55 kmeaw to rebug 4.70.1 cobra.......its the first cobra CFW i used......everything related to PS3 like games and homebrew works excellent.....i enabled cobra but disabled webman since i dont use it...i prefer irisman or multiman......so i tried to play a ps2iso by putting it in the ps2iso folder in the internal hdd....my ps3 btw its a slim so its a no BC.......i dont care about wireless sync....im fine playing with the controller plugged.....but the iso never worked :(.....its a compatible game castlevania LOI......but my ps3 just turns blackscreen no hdmi signal and the controller shuts down even with the cable plugged.....i already made the memory cards.....this happens with irisman, multiman and even webman.......im not looking to play wirelessly i just want to play the ps2iso in a simple way...no react involved...because as far as i know you dont need it if the CFW comes with cobra.

thanx for any info on this matter.

There's been some major changes on the ps3 front. rebug 4.65-4.70 all have these updated ps2 changes. An option would be as described to go to rebug.me, and get the FULL rebug toolbox
and switch your ps2 emulator.
What I did for ps2 to work perfectly (including wireless)
1. Installed ps2 classics iso launcher rebug edition
2. Used psnpatch to activate the rap file
2. Converted one of my iso games to classic and placed in proper directory (see instructions on rebug.me)
3. Found a couple blamk vme files and copied them over to proper directory
4. launched the ps2 classics ONCE to set it up, then exited.
5. Used webman to load my ps2 iso game
6. Used classics launcher to launch it.

Works perfect every time. I can use the straight iso now as well, but require the controller to be connected.
Truly flawless iso playback on ps2 was lost at 4.5+ firmwares. This is the closest we've come since.

you are going to HAVE TO use reactpsn or psnpatch to activate the ps2 classics to get this to work. Or downgrade to a 4.46 release, which was before SONY messed it all up :)

thanx...ill check the rebug tutorial then......do you recommend psnpatch or reactpsn?

BOTH are excellent options. some users prefer the fact that psnpatch is a little easier, and has some features that prevent you from doing something foolish like going online without disabling cfw and clearing history, etc.
but either way you go. READ EVERYTHING. I know psnpatch developer spent ALOT of time on his readme, to make sure you don't have issues, and understand what is going on :)
