PS3 webMAN MOD - General Information Thread 1.47.48q

Hi guys,
First, I want to thank to all the people (specially Aldo), that works actively developing Webman-mod (reporting bugs, adding features, commenting, etc) and to all the people that participates in this community.
Webman-mod is the best backup manager ever made for the ps3 and is great that it keeps getting updated over time with new features and optimizations.

Well, now I want to report a problem, when I try to load a PSX backup via recent builds of ps3netsrv using the latest webman-mod (1.43.33 - 34) and rebug 4.80.1, the backup loads correctly in the XMB (the playstation format disc icon appears), but when I run the game just a black screen appears (no PSX logo), I can press the PS button and I can quit the game, when the XMB loads if I try to load the game again (using the playstation disc icon) the console hard freezes (the controller stops responding), I can hold the power button, hear the beep but the green light blinks for ever, so I have to hold the power button until a complete shut down occurs. If I power on the console again the file system check is executed.

I've tested at least 3 recent builds of ps3netsrv with some mixed results loading PSX games over network. Some games loads, sometimes the ps3netsrv.exe crashes, etc., even I've tested this behavior under different CFW (4.X habib, Ferrox, etc) and different backups managers (mmc, iris) with the same results, so I guess this problem is not related to the backup manager or CFW.

I want to report that the last version of ps3netsrv.exe that I've tested that works perfectly loading PSX games over network is an old version with the MD5 e35978dc9bb1346d812016a765bd5719 and a size of 184,334 bytes.

This error only occurs if I load the psx iso from the latest versions of ps3netsrv, if I copy the iso to the internal ps3 HDD (or use the old ps3netsrv version) all works perfectly.

Thanks again to all, and sorry for my English (it's not my native language).

The ps3netsvr with that MD5 is the one built by deank on Nov 13, 2013 available here.

There aren't big changes in ps3netsvr since it was released by Cobra Team. So you can use that build.
The major changes that I implemented was the support for multi-part isos, merge drives as single folder and support for additional CD sector sizes in PSX. If you don't use none of these features, then deank's build is fine.

It would be nice if you could provide additional details about the issue, like:
- build of ps3netsrv with the issue (file size & md5)
- PSX game used for tests, including name of the ISO and path where it was stored.
- Is there any pattern in the crashes? (e.g. after first mount, listing files, etc.)

Hi Aldo,
Thanks for your answer,
I've replicated the problem using this builds (KB/MD5/Filename)
123.854 4b4ec5c8fa909ef073c5a39cca2ceee2 *ps3netsrv_2.exe
229,838 140c3e9adfec4e3ecdda60776c0c68f4 *ps3netsrv_1.exe

PSX Games Used for the test:
Bishi Bashi Special (E) - Black Screen
Bishi Bashi Special 2 (J) - Black Screen
Bishi Bashi Special 3 (J) - Black Screen
Capcom vs SNK PRO (J) - Black Screen
Castlevania SOTN (U) (Dump made with redump, crashes the ps3netsrv.exe, seems that ps3netsrv doesn't like multibins).

Ps3netsrv PATH: D:\PS3ISO\[PS3ISO,PSXISO,BDISO,Etc.]

The filename isn't relevant, I've renamed the files multiple times from the complete ID ex: Bishi Bashi Special (E) - SLES-02537.bin to bishi.bin, taking care of modify the cue file (I've tried removing the cue file too).

When I select the iso from the XMB using the webman-mod PSX Games menu, the ps3netserv is able to red the cue/bin file (it shows the TRACK/MODE) in the console window, the "playstation disc" icon appears in the XMB.

If I run the game from the icon it loads normally, but it just shows a black screen. If I press the PS button I can use the menu to exit to XMB, if I try to run the game again from the "playstation disc" the console hard freezes, I can replicate this 100% of the time.
If I quit the game and try to load another PSX game from the network a erratic behavior occurs: sometimes I select the new game, the browser opens and freezes for a long time and shows a error message, or the new game loads correctly but there's no icon in the XMB, or the ps3netsrv crashes.
If I select a PS3 game iso instead a PSX game all works flawlessly.

I just want to make myself clear, this problem is only related to PSX games, I've tested DVD, BD, PS3 isos with absolutely no problems.

Thank you for the details. I have been testing the PSX games on ps3netsrv and found that the lastest build of wMM had an issue with remote PSX games using standard sector sizes other than 2352. So I updated the wMM and ps3netsrv and published them as 1.43.34 PRE-RELEASE:

Link: https://github.com/aldostools/webMAN-MOD/releases

This release includes webMAN MOD 1.43.34 (pre-release) and PS3 NET Server GUI 1.4 with ps3netsrv build 20160826.1

However, there is a known (old) issue that I couldn't fix in this release:
A black screen/system freeze may happen launching a second PSX game mounted from /net server.
So it is required to reboot before launch another PSX game from /net server, if you already played one PSX game also from /net.

In my tests in 4.46 Cobra, the issue didn't happen mounting games or launching the first PSX game from /net server, or launching local PSX games or PS3 games from /net after having played a remote PSX game.

BTW multibins are not supported. You must merge them as a single ISO or build a multi-part ISO* (in the case of PS3 games).

*A multi-part ISO is a single ISO split in multiple files of the same size (except the last file) with extensions *.iso.0 until *.iso.15

Thanks Aldo for your answer, I'll update ASAP.

^ this guy i tell you what he never ceases to amaze me :) Good information and can't wait to try this update out on some PSP games.

We might have to start a new compatibility thread

Please, read my EDITED post above... :(

EDIT:
I had to remove the PSP emulator selection (due the opcode was removed from Cobra), but here are 2 new features to compensate it :)

- Added support to cache PSPISO and PS2ISO on ntfs to hdd0 (prepNTFS 1.15 or later is required)
- Added combo L2+R2 to prevent auto-mount game on system startup (2 beeps will sound to indicate when the buttons can be released)

Hi guys, sorry I have some questions and wasted enough hours now, so I ask for help here.

1. I try to get PS3 net serv working, which does under multiman. Under webMAN MOD settings I have no option 'scan for LAN games'. After some reading I found out, that maybe I need the full edition of webMAN MOD. So I both reinstalled the latest 1.43.34 pre-release and and the updater holding L1 in the menu. But there ist still no option 'scan for LAN games'. I use some pretty new 2016 cobra CFW, I dont exactly know which atm. BTW, I didnt have the option 'scan for LAN games' whith the last version of webMAN MOD I had installed, I believe 1.43.04.

2. And how can I completely uninstall webMAN MOD? I read that I have to delete webftp_server.sprx in the root of hdd0, I did it and after that I realised that the guy who wrote that referred to webman. webMAN MOD was still active. Is it a problem that I deleted webftp_server.sprx?

3. And how can I check if I have the full version of webMAN MOD installed? Must there be a webftp_server_full.sprx as I read (http://www.psx-place.com/threads/tut-using-ps3-as-a-net-server-for-another-ps3-with-webman-mod.3658/) ? Where must it be?

Thank you.

1. If you're not using 4.80.1 Rebug, I suggest you to install it, then enable Cobra and reinstall webMAN MOD 1.43.34 pre-release
The option to 'scan for LAN games' is enabled in all cobra editions, except in the 'Lite edition'. The full edition is needed only if you want the extra features.

2. Use the web command /delete.ps3?uninstall (the plugin is generally installed in /dev_hdd0/plugins)
In Rebug, you should go to Rebug Toolbox and disable webMAN to also disable the file installed on /dev_flash

3. Go to the root of File Manager or go to /cpursx.ps3 at the bottom of the page it says "webMAN - Simple Web Server [Full]" if you have the full edition.

Are mount_ps2 and mount.ps2 now part of the realease pkg? I need those to mount ripped singstar games or is there any other possibility? Thank you very much

It's part of the current release but in the Full Edition only.

where to get the newest full edition?
Same as usual.

http://github.com/aldostools/webMAN-MOD/releases/tag/1.43.35

Just download the 1.43.35 updater pkg.
Install it.
Then launch it but keep pressing L1 as you do & until the console reboots.
That will install the full edition instead of the normal one.
You can check if the correct edition is installed with the setup or the temperature page.

I just did a fresh CFW (Rebug 4.80.1) on a new PS3. Installed webMAN_MOD_1.43.36_Updater_20161002.pkg full afterwards (That and Movian is the only thing installed). I can not FTP files to the PS3.

I can create/delete folders though. Tried a lot of different FTP settings, using FlashFXP but it just hangs on MLST for every file.

So I downgraded WebMan MOD to webMAN_MOD_1.43.33_Updater.pkg and it works fine again...

Weird.

Code:
[R] 257 "/"
[R] CWD /dev_hdd0/PS3ISO/
[R] 250 OK
[R] PWD
[R] 257 "/dev_hdd0/PS3ISO/"

Transferred 0 Files (0 bytes) in 3 minutes 5 seconds (0,0 KB/s)

Edit: I also tested webMAN_MOD_1.43.35_Updater.pkg and it also hangs on MLST on FTP transfers...

When I run 1.43.33, I get an error on MLST, which I guess is valid, but then it continues anyway.
It also does not report tempratures and similar, so I guess the ftpd was replaced?

Working:
Code:
[12:39:00] [R] 257 "/dev_hdd0/GAMES/SomeLegalGame/PS3_GAME/USRDIR"

Edit2: If I, in FlashFXP, go to Options / File Transfer Rules and uncheck "Request file size/date prior to transfer", it works of course, but not sure if that is such a good idea. I'll need to add specific File Transfer Rules only for my PS3s if that is by design in newer webman MOD versions...
