webMAN MOD

PS3 webMAN MOD - General Information Thread 1.47.48q

i can tell it doesnt work because the yellow led blinking never appears like when using the regular select+l3 combo
You need to find out whether the problem comes from your own custom build or from something else.
You should do what Aldo wisely suggested, try using an official Full Edition to test whether the feature works as it should in the first place.
If Refresh XML works fine with the official plugin, we can eventually look for the problem in your custom build

i think i might have deleted something while ftping cause no custom combos work even on full version. i even updated with update pkg to full by l1 button. i am goin to install another cfw then reinstall webman. if that dont work ill rebuild database in recovery mode

Only the Windows version was compiled with the latest changes...
you can use ps3netsrv/Make.sh to compile the project for your linux system.

Same as last time then. Now I remember, thanks =)
Here they are, compiled.

Old version that I did last time, if anyone stills needs..
http://grandis.nu/downloads/ps3netsrv1.43.20.zip

32bit version should work for pies

Code:
ps3netsrv64.1.43.28: ELF 64-bit LSB executable, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.6.32, BuildID[sha1]=31527f3190051eaca79e9ceb152a63c4dcfb6d8b, not stripped
ps3netsrv32.1.43.28: ELF 32-bit LSB executable, Intel 80386, version 1 (SYSV), dynamically linked (uses shared libs), for GNU/Linux 2.6.24, BuildID[sha1]=c431df252361feca246984478242d507f9d04c57, not stripped

I can see that it has
Code:
#define MERGE_DRIVES 1
but can anyone explain how that works in linux? Can you specify more then one path?
Like: ./ps3netsrv64 /mnt/ps3,/mnt/ps3_2 38008 192.168.101.*
or what is the command line to use it?

Thanks.

Also this...
# ./ps3netsrv64
ps3netsrv build 20151215.1 (mod by aldostools)

Buildnumber sounds a bit old. I compiled it from webMAN-MOD-1.43.28.tar.gz

Thank you for the binaries... The flag MERGE_DRIVES is used only for WIN32 compilations.
If the flag is uncommented, the directories of all Windows drives are merged. e.g. C:\SHARE\GAMES, D:\GAMES, H:\GAMES, etc.

That's what kozarovv hinted.
If you are using dynamic control, as soon as you launch a PS2 game, dynamic fan control will stop & ps2 manual control mode begin at whatever temp you set for it.
You could uncheck dynamic fan control to use manual control mode all the time instead.
If you set general manual control temp & ps2 control temp at the same value, you would not see a difference when launching a PS2 game.
You should choose between dynamic & manual & check/uncheck the options accordingly.
It's up to you as long as you set the right temps & no matter what you CPU/RSX temps should be < 70 Celsius.
My CPU for example is always kept at 60 max meanwhile my RSX is at 55. To get this result I use dynamic fan control (60 degree & min fan at 37%) & PS2 setting at 40%.
However all consoles are different so you might need to tweak these figures to get the results you need.

Is it normal for the fan control to stop working when playing PS2 games on a disc? My unit is CECHA06 and wMM PS2 fan setting is ticked with 55% but when I insert the PS2 disc the fan doesn't ramp up. Does the PS2 fan setting only works on PS2 classic and PS2 backed up games in ISO format?

webMAN sets the fan speed to ps2 setting only when a PS2 ISO or PS2 Classic is mounted through the plugin or when the plugin is unloaded.

You can convert your PS2 disc to ISO or press L3+R3+R2 (quit webMAN) before launch the game.

PS. This is my post # 1000 :)

Congrats on your 1k post!

If I unload webMAN MOD (L3+R3+R2) will the PS2 setting fan speed kicks in? How would I enable back again the dynamic mode after playing PS2 disc based games?

Is it possible for webMAN MOD to unload it self during PS2 game play and then load again after quitting the game?

yes

The dynamic mode is restored when webMAN is re-loaded (after quitting the PS2 game).
However, if the last game mounted was a PS2 ISO (or Classic) and you have enabled "Load last-played game on startup", the fan speed will use the settings for PS2 mode.

No. It need to be done before start a PS2 game. When you launch a PS2 game, VSH and all the plugins are unloaded and the PS2 emulator boots. When you quit the PS2 game, PS3 VSH boots again and reload all the plugins.

Now I'm confused, if the plugins are unloaded when launching a PS2 game why doesn't the PS2 fan setting works for me?
Whats the difference when I quit the webMAN MOD using the combo and vs launching a PS2 game if they both unload the plugins which as you said should make the PS2 fan setting work.

When you unload webMAN manually, the fan use fan speed settings for PS2 mode. It's done also when you *mount* the PS2 game through the plugin.

When you insert a PS2 disc and launch it, webMAN is not involved and it doesn't know that a new disc was inserted.
When you launch the PS2 game, the fan speed stays at the last value, if you're using dynamic fan.

e.g. If you have set the fan speed for PS2 to 50%, and dynamic fan max temp to 70C. If your PS3 temp is currently 60C, the dynamic fan could have set the fan to 30%. If you launch the PS2 disc, the fan will stay at 30% all the time while the PS2 emulator is running, instead of set it to 50%.

As the PS2 emulator has a high demand of CPU/RSX, the console will overheat because 30% is too low.
If webMAN has the dynamic fan disabled, then SYSCON would be controlling the temp in PS2 mode. In this case, the issue would be less critical, although an overheat still could be possible due the SYSCON's modest values used to avoid noise.

The possible workarounds are:
1- Unload webMAN before launch a PS2 disc. (my suggested solution)
2- Modify PS2Emu in Cobra to auto-set the fan speed mode when optical discs are launched, (ideal, but not sure if feasible)
3- Modify webMAN to poll when a PS2 disc is inserted. (feasible, but not suggested due that affects the system's performance)

Appreciate the patience in answering my queries.

I do now understand and tried it on both PS2 iso and PS2 disc, I'm now using what you suggested to unload webMAN before running my PS2 disc based games. Hope in the future webMAN MOD release it would switch to PS2 fan setting when the system detects a PS2 disc inserted and revert to dynamic fan when the disc is unloaded.
